My Issue with 17.4.x, 17.5.x, was i'd get Directx Failed to Iniltiaze messages when I opened Virtual Dj and Battlefield 4, My Card is Radeon R7 240 2gb, (came with system, getting RX 460 probably soon as I can afford it) Anyhow waiting til AMD fully fixes driver before updating again, right now running 17.3.3 as it works the best at the moment

GPU drivers have never been an exact science considering there are all sorts of things relying on them. Typically most people who run into GPU driver issues also run dual GPU setups.

That said, you might look to Virtual DJ's site to see if the issue can be fixed there. As for DX issues, you might go here to see if this works - DirectX End-User Runtime Web Installer

    Good luck.

Yup Done both those things, already talked to Virtual DJ Support, already ran the Runtime, even did 3 clean installs of WIndows 10 Pro 64bit Creators, now I just wait til version is confirmed fixed, before I attempt possibly updating video drivers again lol

Only running 1 video card here thankfully, can't imagine the stress of driver issues with dual gpus

OK. And yeah, the R7 240 is an old card so the new one may work better with the newer drivers.

Regarding dual GPU's and driver issues, it's why I don't mess with dual GPU setups myself.... way too many driver issues.

Anyway good luck with the RX 460. Will perform much better than the R7 240.

460 doesn't use much power either, here's after all 3D tests in Performance test 9.0:

Current Power Supply is Asus OEM 300 or 350 watt, so most likely do have to upgrade that before installing the new card, just affording it all is next challenge

Check how much power your 240 uses, it's probably not much less if at all.

    Hey guys.

So my R9280X isn't faulty. I went out and purchased a brand new graphics card (same model as my original). Used DDU to remove my previous drivers. Installed the new card and installed the latest drivers. Started a youtube video and the display driver crashes (screen goes blank then recovers). Then the system crashed. So it's not my other GPU itself being faulty as it does the same with the brand new card.

EDIT: I should also mention, sygnus21, that my card fan does not increase when I'm gaming. For some reason despite it getting more than 55C to about 60C it does not increase fan speed to compensate the temperatures. This is why I manually set the fan speed to 67% when playing GTA V. It keeps the card temperature between 48 and 55 instead of an excessive 60+C.

Been there with re-buying stuff I thought was faulty only to find it wasn't so I feel your pain. That said, unfortunately those driver has stopped responding issues on GPU's are extremely hard to diagnose. Been there before too, though that was back in the early Vista days. In the end for me, it actually did turn out to be a faulty GPU. But I know Vista used to produce a ton of GPU not responding issues when it first came out. All that said, unfortunately I've no other suggestions other than to take note of what applications it happens with. Perhaps double check your power supply.

If the fans work, but don't increase with gaming (aka heat producing games), and your temps are good, I wouldn't worry as that's a good sign the card is handling the stress the game is putting on it.

On the other hand, if the fans aren't running, but the card is getting hot, that could definitely be your issue since one of the symptoms of an overheating card be to temp shut down and thus the GPU driver error. Just something to keep an eye on. Also mentioned, a faulty PS?
    My thoughts in red.

    Peace
