How to prevent Windows installing video driver updates automatically?

I'm running Win 10 Pro 64bit AE and I manually install nVidia graphic driver updates as soon as they are available as I am an avid gamer. However, since February, every time I try to run nVidia's driver install program, it has abended. I end up having to go into safe mode, run Display Driver Uninstaller and then go back to normal load to install the new driver. nVidia says that during a normal install (not safe mode) the nVidia files get corrupted. Well, this is a pain doing it this way since I never had an issue before.

Perusing the Windows update files I noticed that Windows keeps trying to install a nVidia driver from December 2016. No wonder I'm having problems. This is the issue that must be corrupting the nVidia files.

Anyway, how can I specify to Windows Update to NEVER try to install graphic driver updates? I've look everywhere but can't seem to find anything.

Couple ideas here depending on which version of W10 you are running. I have Ultimate and used the Group Policy Editor method successfully: Take Back Control Over Driver Updates in Windows 10

There's a simpler way than using the Group Policy Editor.

Go to the System control panel. Click on "advanced system settings" on the upper left of the window. Click the Hardware tab, and then the Device Installation Settings button. The window that pops up is:

(The capability was a lot more obvious in some earlier versions of Win 10. Still there, but I'd guess that MS doesn't want you to use it.)

Well, I'll certainly give that a try. Consider this thread solved for now.
