AMD doesn't sell cards to public, there's no real AMD video card, they are all made by different companies using AMD base cards or only GPU. So you may have had Asus, Gigabyte, MSI or other card and they are responsible for their products not AMD.
Im not sure why you are telling me this, that is what he told me in his shop.
But here is a picture of the box for my card, its barely 2 years and ready for the bin.

But that does not help me. And that greedy vendor lost more money by not returning that card, as we dont shop there anymore.

That's only way to deal with them, I just like to make it clear to them. If they have any smarts they would take a hint.

My experience with AMD R9 270x is really bad, i got a faulty card, one of those faults that shows every 6th week, with grey or greens vertical lines all over my screen. And as the shop where i bought the card from could not reproduce the error so he refused to take it back. Because he had to pay AMD if the card was ok and he returned it...
Defects are unexpected, even NVIDIA cards will have one. It has to do with the manufacturer. NVIDIA doesn't sell their own cards either.

Both of them make so called "Reference models" that are essentially made at AMD or Nvidia but are "Sticker engineered" by other companies that sell them as own.

I've been using AMD/ATI/Radeons since the 90's and never had a bit of trouble with them, or the drivers. The price performance ratio is pretty good, even though they don't bench as well as Nvidia cards. But real world performance is pretty good overall.

The only gripe I have about the drivers is their insistence on scrambling my desktop icons when I do a driver upgrade. I have yet to figure out this behaviour.

Haven't needed a new card for awhile [since AMD bought ATI] but was always partial to the ATI Radeon Sapphire cards, never had a problem with the AGP and PCIe X16 format.

    nVidia sells some cards directly.

    https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce...geforce-store/

They haven't made the same mistake of the late, unlamented 3dfx: most nVidia cards are still sold through third parties.
