17.7.2 is first WDDM driver after some time so it must be most compatible, I don't have any problems with it. Also after few versions this is first time I did clean install. I always do clean install when WDDM are installed. Drawback is that setting have to be remade after it.
I always use DDU to install new display drivers anyway but that didn't stop the newest drivers I installed being problematic with more frequent BSODs every 5-10 minutes when watching a youtube video or doing anything that requires more graphics acceleration. As long as this new release is stable and more compatible then I'll update it..but I'm afraid it'll be problematic.
- it runs fine here..
- your card is listed as compatible, so you should be OK to install it..:)
I'll install it and report back with results.
Update on the driver installation; I've had no issues yet so far...
With the latest driver and my AMD HD 7870 I have a problem with HDCP when connected to the DVI port on my Samsung monitor. The Blu-ray player software would not work. I needed to go back to the previous WDDM driver. I did contact AMD about the problem. (Connecting the card via HDMI was OK.)
So far I haven't yet had an issue. My display driver has not crashed or stopped responding (yet), and it seems stable. If it makes any difference(s), I have an Asus Radeon R9 280X (apparently the alternate name is the HD 7970).
sorry, typo, ment 17.7.2! Anyway, so yeah I run the 7850K with an ASUS R7 250 1gb in hybrid mode. I'm going to give the latest drivers another shot tonight. =\
Well I am extremely pleased to announce that my display drivers haven't crashed once yet since installing the new drivers. I do however in odd times get my graphics card pulling these coloured lines and display flickering if the card randomly crashes the system... I assume that's a sign it's on it's way to death. The only problem is this card has never overheated.
I should also note that I swapped the graphics card to another PCI-E slot.
