First things first... is this 16.3.1 beta driver having any issues? That Nvidia fail is still sitting in the back of my mind from a few weeks ago.

-I had no problems with the 16.3.1 beta while it was out and am downloading the AMD Radeon Crimson 16.3.2 WHQL now . . .

    Hd6970

Well wonder if the newer drivers will do anything for my old, but new in the box, card I got to go with my I7980 also a older but good CPU.
Been having the video driver reset issues and played with all the tweaks so it's usually not as bad as when I first noticed it right after we built this thing from new and used parts.
Been trying to follow any new updates and like that, seemed like the previous release made it worse then I noticed the HD6970 has been dropped to legacy support with a beta crimson driver or the older 1500 something driver.
Maybe I need to invest in a newer card but just trying to get what I have stable and happy . anyways just loaded that crimson driver for it and we'll see if it's any better though I think I had it on here before when they first released it last month or whatever.

New AMD Radeon Crimson 16.4.1 driver available. Non-WHQL
    --installing . . .

    Update:
OK, have reverted back to the
    amd-catalyst-15.11.1beta-64bit-win10-win8.1-win7-nov14 version for my system,
not so much because of problems with the latest Radeon Crimson drivers, but just because I am not excited with the new UI layout and that it is missing some key ingredients for my ease of workflow; having everything in one place, useable hotkey presets, etc . . .

I agree with you but I have a issue with the older versions and I have to use a newer versions. They did quite a poor job with their "new" drivers.

Care to elaborate on what they did "poorly"? Are you referring to the new GUI? It's a little foreign but you'll get used to it.
