Low fps, gpu usage etc. after pc on for a while, only reboot fixes.

    Hey everyone,

Basically I was over at the geforce forums when another forum member assisted me in realising that potentially a Windows update has caused the problem I am having with my GPU.

Here is a link to the thread:
    https://forums.geforce.com/default/t...boot-fixes-/1/

    TL;DR above thread;

So after my system is on for a few hours, I will start up a new game and it will run like crap. I usually play at 144hz vsync on, games will hover around 20-50fps, never stable and is unplayable. Only restarting the comp fixes it, have reformatted Windows, done everything I can software-wise to no avail. Came back to comp two months ago after 6 months of non-use -no memory of issue before, so therefore leads me to believe windows updates have changed how GPU works with OS. All clocks and numbers fine - GPU usage, mhz, mem usage etc.

Hope anyone here can shed some light on the matter and help me realise if windows updates is even a matter for concern. Thanks in advance.

    Welcome to the TenForums @euniqe

If you feel this is a Windows update issue, please check your windows update history. In particular look for driver updates. See when they were installed and if this correlates to your issue reappearing.

You can roll back the driver and see if this corrects. You can also perform a system restore assuming you have restore points enable.

I'm not a believer in allowing windows to update drivers just because a new one is available. I control my driver updates. If rolling back a driver, or two, corrects situation you may wish to consider telling Windows to stop updating drivers.

Process to stop Windows updating drivers.
    Right click on Windows Start
    Click on Control Panel
    Click on System and Security
    Click on System
    Click on Advance system settings
    Click on Hardware tab
    Click on Device Installation Settings
    Click on No
A menu appears (first time) click Never Install driver software.
You may get a warning. Click the option that says I’ll take care of it (not exact words)

Please post back what you find. It could help other members or help them help you.

Thank you for your reply. I will stop installing updates now without checking things first, however this doesnt help me with my problem. Neither would rolling back driver updates, as not only have I recently reformatted (meaning also no system restore states) but I have a lot of hardware. I don't have the time to roll back drivers for one of them, wait a few hours to see if the problem is gone, then repeat like 15 times.

I followed those steps and "yes" was clicked, so I clicked "no" to never install driver software. Not sure exactly where I should go from here... My earliest update was on the 18th this month, update number KB3199986. My only restore point is on the 22nd. I don't think rolling back updates is going to help me much to be honest.

    Any other ideas?

Yes I know you have a lot of hardware that is why I wanted you to check the Update history to see which drivers were updated..

Please look at your update history, hopefully it is present from you last reformatting. Looking for drivers in say last two months month, that is when you said it started again.
