No HP logo splash screen after installing GTX 1060

    Go into the BIOS and check the version number. That will tell you if it updated or not. Some high end motherboards have Dual BIOS and or flash protection. What it's called and how it works depends on the manufacturer. If the flash fails, and its corrupted, it falls back to a backup copy of the original unflashed BIOS. In the old days you'd just get a totally black screen with no BIOS Beep. And a door stop or something cool to hang on the wall.
    Just had a look. It does indeed give the updated BIOS version number, and the BIOS date (29th December 2016 in my case), which I presume is the date the new BIOS was flashed. Phew. New version number A0.13 as opposed to the old version (A0.07).
