Thank you once again, I will explain:

    • Today 10th November 2016 - After monitor eventually successfully connects to my HP laptop, in my absence when the laptop/monitor powers off, I get NO re-connection problems during the day
    • Tomorrow 11th November 2016 - After laptop and monitor has been restarted following, shut-down, power offs(laptop + monitor) I will be stuck once again with exactly the same problem

In my display settings each morning, my HP laptop shows it is connected to my external monitor, however there is no display on the external monitor for a vast amount of time, just randomly suddenly appears.?

It's not the date time, its the full shutdown versus coming out of sleep. To be honest I would have expected it to be the other way around. Normal from a cold boot, messed up when coming out of sleep mode. I don't have an answer as to why though? I'm baffled.

Discovered the best interim solution and best way to live this problem:

    • I have changed my LG TV auto power setting to OFF - therefore the monitor remains ON constantly and therefore laptop instantly presents a display to my monitor, sleep, restart etc..

The critical issues being in this bizarre problem :-

    • Windows 10 HP laptop is both physically and S/W connected to LG monitor
    • LG monitor can take up to 45mins to present this display on each and every day
    • Connected laptop via HDMI to three other monitors(TV’s etc), same problem, one TV was less than six months old
    • There appears to be raised problems generally in relation to such an external monitor problem on the WWW
    • Never incurred such a problem in Windows 7

I stress these are the facts of my problem and thank you again

If that was my PC, I would start all over again with a clean install of Windows 10. I haven't seen any other reports of your particular issue, which makes me think its just a glitch with your system. Having to wait 20 minutes to use my PC every morning wouldn't last long for me. I'd have nuked it by now. I do understand not everybody is comfortable doing that though. Lots of tutorials here for info though.

Currently I do not have to wait 20 minutes everyday as my LG monitor is permanently powered ON, this is however a temporary solution which has fixed my problem as laptop immediately produces display from various modes(Shutdown, Sleep, etc..) the next day

Whilst I respect your advice regarding Windows 10 clean install, I will continue to investigate given time and explore other avenues to a permanent fix, but there appear to be a vast number of Windows 10 issues pertaining to external monitors

Thanks again, I will keep you updated

I've seen a few issues posted. I think most are driver related. On a clean install I get one screen only until my NVidia drivers are installed. I had loads of driver problems with the early preview builds of Windows 10. NVidia and AMD. I ran Windows 8 on my laptop for along time because DisplayLink wouldn't run without crashing and I got constant "AMD Catalyst has stopped working" messages. I've done upgrades from build to build and usually had glitches afterward. Now that my PC's all have Digital Licenses, I almost always just do a clean install of the new build instead.

With your workaround, I agree, you can wait it out now and maybe find the cause.
