ZOTAC GeForce GT610 2 GB Low Profile Question

    Hey guys,

I wanna buy a new video card, because I can't play ANY modern games with my stupid integrated GPU (Intel GMA X3100). I found the ZOTAC GeForce GT 610 2 GB Synergy Low Profile - GeForce ® GT 610 Synergy 2GB | ZOTAC, but I'm not really sure on whether it will work or not on my motherboard (MSI MS-7525 (Boston)). It's an old board, 2009 I believe (that's the date of the BIOS), and the card is 2012, I think. It also says that it requires at least 300 W and my PSU is only 270 W. So, will it work without any issues? Here's my PC - HP Pavilion Slimline s5130at Desktop PC Product Specifications | HP® Customer Support just in case you need more info.

I had the same board. It doesn't come with the GMA X3100 (DX 9.0c GPU) but only comes with GMA 3100 (DX 9.0b GPU).

The GT 610 isn't really worth the upgrade at all.

I shouldn't even be recommending these cards below because they're not worth the money for a guy that will be building his computer or even for HTPC, Yes some SFF chassis will fit in a full-size card but the motherboard and other parts on it are lying in a landscape position and yours is in portrait so it can only fit a Low-Profile graphics card.

Something like a GT 740 will do the job:

    or

    GT 730

Have you considered something like the new 460? I know its double the cost of the 730.

It'll bottleneck his processor I think. A Core 2 Duo E8600 will help that fix it

I'll probably go with the GT 610, because my budget is kinda low. I'm sure it'll do the job since I'm not a heavy gamer, most of the time all I do is watch YouTube videos. And my monitor is only 1024x768. Anyway, thanks for the replies. Have a nice day.

You can get a low-profile GT 730 for about the same cost as a 610.

It's slightly better than the 610.

Avoid dropping significant money on the old HP. It'd be like buying new alloy wheels and high-performance tires for a 2005 Ford Fiesta.
