New GTX 1070 Display ports not working

So on Friday i thought it was time for a upgrade so i bought a Gigabyte GTX 1070 G1.

    Current system specs:
    Asrock x79 Extreme 11 Motherboard
    Intel Core i7 3970x
    32gb Dominator Platinum 8x4gb
    1000w EVGA 80+ Gold
    GTX 1070 G1 (had 2x EVGA 660ti in SLI)

When i first installed the GPU i was getting no out put at all (I am a computer technician so im not stupid). I tried all the possibilities Drivers, BIOS Flash and even cable issues but no luck. I reinstalled my old 660tis and it worked perfectly. I ended fixing this issue by changing my PCIe slot from Gen2 to Gen3 in the BIOS. Happy days i thought..... When i tried using HDMI it worked, however, i have a 4 monitor set up and i need to use the Display ports.

Display ports will not display i have tried them all. the monitors are Dell U2711's .

Please help as i need this sorting ASAP!

    Thanks

Have you tried shutting down and turning on the monitors first then starting up?

I've Googled it and find several cases with the same/similar problems. The ones who resolved it, used quite a few ways to do it. I'm just curious if Gigabyte has a newer BIOS for the card.

Are the Monitor Display Ports using DP 1.2 ? on my 970 G1 I had to switch them , my monitors were defaulted to DP 1.1 in the Monitor's Menus.

Though I think the GTX1070 uses DP 1.4 , so hopefully it is backward compatible

edit......Sometimes it helps to only plug in the DP next to the HDMI 1st , reboot etc to make sure it is working , and then plug the other two DP in and the HDMI or DVI . At least on my 970 that's what works as it has Dual bios's and something called Flex Technology.

If you have more than one monitor turn both of them on and then switch to the monitor you wish to display if it is one monitor leave it on unplug it from the port and plug it back in simple Nvidia is wonkie that way

    Hi Guys,

Thanks for the effort, unfortunately the issue is still at large.

kbird i have tried looking and i do not know what version of DP my monitors run (My Monitors are Dell U2711). Also i have looked in the setting and there is no way to change the version of DP.

solarstarshines i have also tried this with no success.

Today i bought a DP to HDMI cable as i thought this would narrow down the cause. When i tried the DP in the GPU there was no display as predicted., however, when i tried the HDMI in the GPU and the DP in the monitor this still didnt work which baffled me as HDMI to HDMI works?

    I hope this helps.

Hi , after a quick look , that Monitor is probably from 2010 or 2011 , so I'd guess it is DP 1.1 , maybe 1.2 which came out in 2009,
but both are capable of 1440 res . according to WikiPedia at 30hz or 60hz

DisplayPort - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia See chart (red and green 1/2 way down.)

DisplayPort 1.4 that the 1070 uses only came out in March , I would assume it can use lower versions but you would need to ask on Nvidia or the GByte Forums. I know I had to switch my BenQ 3200 to DP 1.2 in the menu to get a clear picture and that is the version my 970 is using , however there can't be too many Monitors using DP 1.4 yet , since it was only ratified back in March.

Does the card have the latest Bios?

I run 2x GTX 980s with 3 monitors and they have a port priority. Does the 1070 have any such rules about which ports can be run at the same time?

    What resolutions are you running?
