I've found there's no need to manually uninstall the previous driver first. When I download the latest version and start installing I always select Custom and then perform clean installation. Unfortunately, this will also reset all your NVIDIA control panel settings to default, but will ensure there's no conflicts between driver releases.
Driver cleaner does a much better job nvidias just deletes the nvidia settings folder it doesnt remove the registry keys :) you may never have any compatibility issues but once you've had them you cant help uninstall/boot into safe mode/run driver cleaner/boot into windows/install new drivers/reboot and relax

Seems to be a lot of people having issues with this driver. A lot of people on Reddit and Nvidia forums are ending up having to go back to a restore point or go into Safe Mode and uninstall the driver because it black/blue screens their systems during install. Nvidia is suggesting it's a multimonitor issue, but I see people with single monitor setups that are having issues too.

I'll be on 362.00 til it's resolved, I thought it was little wonky that they release 362.00 on march 1st and then 6 days later here is 364.47. In my mind that just screamed this is a broken driver

Well, it installed alright for me with my second monitor unplugged. Gonna run it through the paces and see if I can break it.

No issues here with the new driver. Haven't been able to break it, everything is running fine, but I do have a single monitor.

Same here, I have seen no problems at all, and I only have 1 monitor also.

I guess this is why I just don't update the drivers unless absolutely necessary - to avoid avoidable stress like this (the normal MS Windows 10 updates do enough of that). I checked tonight how far back my drivers are, 355.98 and they have been solid as a rock so far. Although I am eyeing up Far Cry Primal on steam - I guess that might necessitate getting the latest and greatest drivers although I will give it a shot under the current driver I have and keep my fingers crossed that it runs ok! I am curious if other people run slightly older drivers and how they get on with the newest releases. I don't buy many games these days but I feel with the rig I have now I should be giving newer titles a look in.

Mine installed ok without issue. I did disable all the security software before hand.

Just updated to 364.47 today from 362.00 with no issues. It always puzzles me why so many people have problems with installing these. I've updated my nvidia drivers religiously going back 6+ years on dozens of laptops and desktops I've built and owned over the years, and with zero problems. I wonder if Windows UAC or an improperly configured Anti Virus is preventing these drivers from installing correctly for some people.
