DDU is great, but is not really necessary to use all the time. Its intention is to be used for troubleshooting, swapping cards or peace of mind situations etc. I've been updating graphics drivers through GFE now since it was released in beta and it's been doing fine. It auto detects everything for you and what driver you should have installed. It's very easy to use and to install drivers with. If there has been an issue with something then it would be with the driver itself from my experience.

I've only had one install failure with GFE and that was sorted out within the hour.

DDU does a thorough Cleaning of everything in The Nvidia Driver including the registry, if you use the settings for it , DDU will prevent MS from installing a Driver. Since Nvidia is going to stop support for 3D Vision, it may be a good Idea to use DDU when they do. I do not install GFE, but as always the choice is up to the user.
