Posted this on the Nvidia forum a few mins ago after searching for a while and then hoping the next driver will fix it. . Maybe posting here will give us more suggestions. Hoping to reach someone who had this problem lately.

    Hi All,
    Searched for a while now and can't seem to find a solution. Every so often my screen will flicker to black for a second or two and then be fine. It don't matter if I am in a game or just at desktop, but while in MMO it seems to last 2-3 second longer. It's just random. Below is my MB and video card;

ASUS TUF Z270 Mark 1 LGA1151 Kaby Lake DDR4 DP HDMI M.2 USB 3.1 Z270 Aura Sync ATX Motherboard
    GIGABYTE GeForce GTX 1060 DirectX 12 GV-N1060WF2OC-6GD 6GB 192-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 ATX Video Card
    Forgot to add...monitor #1 Samsung S24C350L Samsung monitor #2 S24D330

My Son bought a new Asus GeForce 1080 about a month ago and is experiencing the same issue.

It must be a driver issue because we have totally different components in our computers. We have had a few driver updates in the past month or so and they don't seem to have fixed it.
While typing this post I received the latest update v: 416.34 through GeForce Experience and hoping the problem is addressed in it. Although skimming through the patch notes I don't see a fix for flicker.

Can someone help us with this issue please? We would greatly appreciate any suggestions.

    Thanks
Did you try doing a Clean Install of Nvidia 416.34 ?? Using DDU from Safe mode.....
I am running 416.34 on my system with no such issues.

    Thanks for reply OldMike65
Yes we both removed the drivers with DDU in safe mode and a short time after that day it still happened. Reinstalled clean with latest drivers last week and still happening. Changed cables, unplugged one monitor and still happens. Read a lot of suggestions in google but not fixed
    Very strange I must say.

    Thanks again,
Yes I got prompted to install them while I was making a post. They installed successfully as always but scanning through the patch notes I didn't see any mention of random flicker. So I am hoping they may have something there to fix the issue.
Still reading google and wondering if the 3D option should be disabled. Although it don't seem to be a easy way to do that in the Nvidia Control Panel. Under 'Manage 3D Settings' there are a lot of Global Settings and Program Settings. Not sure if I want to tackle that lol

3D and Physics are separate install-able packages, I believe. Look in Progs and Features. Uninstall it.

No problem, I had a problem where during boot or during Nvidia driver updates where the screen goes black, I would get 5 or 6 two pixel wide stripes, and after the update, it was gone.

This driver also gives no signal to my monitor when going from sleep, and it's not the cable (VESA certified) or hardware. I think the EDI data or INF is broken in the 416 drivers. Seems to mostly affect DPs. Wtf Nvidia... Whatever they changed from 411 to 416 ain't working for me. Time to send more repros and sys infos I guess...
