Thanks DooGie! Since GeForce doesn't sit in the system tray anymore, I haven't seen any notifications for driver updates.
Although, that could be because I get notified here before it has a chance

You can enable or disable the tray icon by opening up the NVIDIA CP and selecting the desktop and there is an option to have the Notification option showing.

GFE will not optimize any of my games...

It seems to me Tthat NVIDIA are playing catch up to AMD. AMD release a new driver and a couple of days later NVIDIA do the same but with very little new content.
