Thanks for the response Cliff.
I've searched for fixzes but not found one up to now, after the error occurs the NVIDIA context menu vanishes and in control panel the NVCP icon is there but doesn't work.
It's not a major issue, more of an annoyance.
I've had it too both with the previous and current driver and with both 1607 and 1703. A workaround is to simply restart the NVIDIA Display Container LS service which seems to cure it for a few days at a time.
I have contacted nvidia about this issue though they emailed me back saying they could not replicate the issue. I would say contact them about this and if asked send them your msinfo32 file.
From looking at our PC specs the one thing Cliff, you and i have in common is we all have MSI motherboards.
If you are Not running the Windows Creative Update, then there are no problems with the latest Updates from Nvidia :)
Also you can only get the Creative update if you ASK for it. Its not offered as any WU yet. I think its still in Beta, and users can run it if they choose. I tried it and ran it for a week or two, then removed it, after giving me too many headaches.
