I have a GeForce GT 640m in my Laptop, will this hotfix get it working again? Better to wait a while until the fix is getting fewer user issues?

New to Windows 10 and not as 'puter-savvy as some. Thanks for the advice in advance

I'm on 5910, anything newer the pc locks up at random times.
downloaded the hotfix driver but it said I didn't have compatible gpu.
wanted to run the newer driver as my video editing software,
it said I need a newer driver to be able to use it for hardware rendering
