Yea you're right, both Intel and nVidia have a page where they state that you can't swap dch to standard that easily.
Introduction of Windows DCH Drivers for Intel ProductsAs of November 2018, driver updates for Intel products on these operating systems will begin transitioning to Windows DCH Drivers. After a driver has been updated to a Windows DCH Driver, it's possible to roll back to a legacy driver; however, rolling back isn't recommended as it involves a complex process that could result in system instability. This system instability is especially pertinent to graphics drivers. You can find more information on this subject.
I am not on insider or RP builds so I can't speak for it personally, but a few I know got it offered for the 19H1 insider build on both old and new hardware. Not sure what the criteria are for it to be offered to be honest, but it should enable support for the new driver model. Fixes on the current non-insider driver are not included since it's a different branch.
