I don't believe that you can directly switch from Standard to DCH drivers. I used Wagnard's DDU to totally uninstall my old Nvidia driver and then was able to switch to the DCH version of driver 419.35. It was difficult finding the link to the Microsoft Store App version of the Nvidia Control Panel, but I finally found that as well. That Nvidia Control Panel app only works with the DCH driver.

I also put my PC in the Release Preview Insider Ring, but was not offered version 421.65 as of yet.

Apparently, 421.65 may help with performance issues caused by KB4482887.
Yea you're right, both Intel and nVidia have a page where they state that you can't swap dch to standard that easily.

As of November 2018, driver updates for Intel products on these operating systems will begin transitioning to Windows DCH Drivers. After a driver has been updated to a Windows DCH Driver, it's possible to roll back to a legacy driver; however, rolling back isn't recommended as it involves a complex process that could result in system instability. This system instability is especially pertinent to graphics drivers. You can find more information on this subject.

I am not on insider or RP builds so I can't speak for it personally, but a few I know got it offered for the 19H1 insider build on both old and new hardware. Not sure what the criteria are for it to be offered to be honest, but it should enable support for the new driver model. Fixes on the current non-insider driver are not included since it's a different branch.

Was gaming on my PC, not a single hitch or glitch... Seems I'm in the safe zone. No idea if I have that patch or not...

    Long story short: No issues!

I uninstalled the Standard drivers using DDU, but the DCH driver installer says that my hardware "isn't compatible with this version of Windows". So I just reinstalled the Standard ones in the meantime. This happened on both Windows 1809 and Fast ring builds.

one thing i hate is when rumours start because idiots on twitter assume things.

421.65 is not being tested, its already been through testing and is simply a 19h/20h driver.

I also used DDU in Safe Mode to remove the Standard drivers. I was them able to install the DCH driver. Another user did the same, as the had DCH driver on one Windows and Standard on another Windows on the same PC (dual-boot Insider/public builds). I found a link to get the Control Panel app from the Microsoft Store, as at first I had no Nvidia Control Panel. I still have not been offered the 421.65 driver and am on Release Preview Ring.
