Does not even show up in Geforce
Well I just talked to tech at Nvidia, and this hot fix is not needed for a 1080Ti card @Brink

I tried this and after doing so could not get into safe mode so I am back on 397.31.

Probably because it's a unsigned driver. Not that it tells what quality it is in, but from experience they can cause issues on secured UEFI installs. There's really no reason to update to hotfix drivers -- unless needed to of course -- because they are specifically ment to fix certain bugs and can throw away others in the process. Sometimes they can be from a entirely different driver branch aswell, eliminating features and/or performance enhancements.
