Thanks jds63. I finally managed to track down a review of the OC version I have of the Dual-x R9280X 3GB and I see now why it's so hard to find it - it is apparently now off the radar.

    Hmmmm.

DCS is the flight simulator I'm currently having a crack at.

It's a chicken and egg situation, isn't it?

By the by, tried to give you a thumbs up for the post but apparently I can't give to the same person in succession, so have a cake instead - .

Yes you can not rep twice in such a close amount of time to the same person, do not worry your thanks are enough for me it is my pleasure to help.

Those Radeon 280 X like i said are all about the same except for some specs as mentioned in my last post, it is a decent Graphics card.
Not into Flight Simulators, more into Open world first and third person adventure games and first and third person shooters mostly.

Thanks, jds. I'm now hopping over to the gaming section and see if I can get any closer to deciding what to do here. Thanks again..

    Hi there.

High quality graphics at a decent refresh rate requires both Memory and a LOT of processing power so for really good performance you should use a dedicate Graphics GPU card which can offload a lot of the graphics processing away from the main mobo and bus.

For normal office type stuff (excluding gaming / video editing / photoshop / CAD etc) most computers will drive a reasonable sized monitor at full HD 1080p using the standard built in Video integrated into the MOBO.

For driving a 4K large size monitor (or even a load of monitors say 3 or 4) you really must have a separate graphics card (or even two of them).

    Cheers

Thanks, jimbo. Good of you to take the time to respond.

I just feel I would like to get a more immersive experience from my set-up. I have possibly approaching 1,000 available now and maybe a tad extra later, but am thoroughly confused as to what to do first.

My set up is as per the system specs posted in my profile.

I thought my first purchase could be say the Samsung 34" curved monitor, followed by an up-grading of the Graphics card if needed --OR I could go the reverse route and get a more powerful Graphics Card and then a screen to go with it. But I keep wondering if no matter which choice I make I may be opening a can of worms and finding each step I take only causes another one.

I don't want a triple screen set-up - just a bigger screen and more sharp, if possible. Am I better to simply build another (my second) system... or can I strengthen the one I have?

Any help is welcomed and I do hope you allow for my technical naivety. I have been gaming since 1995 - having started with Fade to Black!!!

Just a quick update for those who kindly helped me.

I bought a new PSU EVGA Supernova 650W G2, a Gigabyte GeForce 980Ti 6GB Windforce OC Edition graohics card and an X34 Predator G-sync 34" curved Monitor.

Finally got everything disassembled and put together again and tweaked and set-up, and am now thoroughly enjoying Witcher 3 in Ultra-wide 3440 x1440 @95hz.

    Christmas came early this year.

Thank you for all your help.
