    980ti/samsungEU48JU6400/windows 10 display issues

wasent sure how to word this as its 2 problems in one .so sorry about that. problem 1. i can not get my samsungtv to display at post in safemode or the loading screen. but it displays when window 10 is loaded. luckly i have an hp2009 monitor connected aswell as this is the only way i can display and access my bios and safemode. but it is a real pain when updating graphics drivers because if i do not have mulitmonitor enabled and switch to the hp2009 as main display when unistalling the driver i will get no signal on my samsung half way through the uninstall and have no choice but to force the reset button witch prob messes up installation.so its worrieing to say the least.. problem 2. my desktop dose not seem to display programs correclty. and sometimes i am missing icons in my start menu and background desktop unless i leave the default size of text at 100% however since my native res is 3840x2160 everything is just to dam small and its impossible to navigate properly. the recommended is 300% for my display yet if i do this most programs do not seem to take effect and are still small.and in some cases the text is out of place and cut of. it dose not display correctly. im not sure what to do.. if anyone can help that would be great.

Most graphics cards activate the secondary monitor only in Windows. To properly identify both monitors and have optimal resolution, you must download and install latest nVidia drivers directly from nVidia, not Windows Update. Your problems indicate that you have generic Microsoft drivers installed and you cannot select the appropriate resolution for your Samsung or change the scaling. Update the graphics drivers and then try to change settings from nVidia Control Panel. You can either select monitors in the Control Panel, or with the Win+P combination.

thanks for replying.. i have no issue with selecting resoultions or scaling options ..i have all that in nvidia control panel and i did download the latest Nvidia drivers directly from nvida. i even uninstalld the intel grpahics drivers thinking that might be the problem..still dose not work. unless the way i do it is wrong . the procedure i did was this..downloaded drivers from nvidia website. change display (2) to main display. unistlalld previous drivers using the settings option in start menu in window 10.. (have to do more then one reeboot before i can unistall all nvidia software though) once done i run UDD boot into safemode. select the second option with nvidia selected as the removal driver. it reboots. then i install the new nvida driver slecting clean install.once its installd .I set the samsung as main display. and enable SLI . i am unable to do this proceudre without selecting the second monitor as main display as i get no signal on the samsung when i unistall it.and without a singnal i am unable to boot into safe mode to use UDD to properly unistall the drivers in the first place. im still lost and confused on how to get this problem solved. unlesss windwos update is not disabled or somthing..but i dunno how to check. if you can give me further assistance that would be great :)

You can hide unwanted updates so they are excluded as explained in this post. Once you set a monitor as the primary, Windows should remember it on next restart, unless in the meantime some update changes the graphics driver and screws things. Hide it to be safe.

no i dont think you understand.. windows detects the tv fine as the dispaly..its just the post screen boot screen and safemode that it dose not display... regardless if the second monitor is connected or not.

Does your Samsung TV have a mode called Just Scan, or ScanMode in its settings menu?? Mine does, but it older than yours most likely. check your TV for its display options. Helped me on one of my computers that uses my Samsung TV. Just a thought.

no i have no such option. there are lots of diffrent picture settings but nothing calld scan mode. there is changeing name of device..but that makes the picture look worse then what it is when its set as default. and dose not fix the problem either.

Hi Similar issue I think, everything was fine with on-board graphics, but after installing GTX 970 just a black screen with monitor on until Windows 10 has loaded approx. 17sec

Although if I hold del key at boot I can still access bios, just don't see anything till Windows 10 has finished loading. Also If a game changes screen resolutions another 17 sec of black screen till it comes back.

Probably a combination of Bios/GPU Drivers/Windows 10 How are you connected? I'm using DVI on a Dell U2311H

On most laptops the external screen works only in Windows, not BIOS. Unless there is a setting in BIOS to enable both screens and you do that, so it boots in mirror mode.
