    monitor question

i have a laptop and because the screen is so small i now use a monitor that is 24" that is plenty big enough however most monitors have the mounts located so that it is hard to put the laptop screen under the monitor and behind it. and they are so thick it is hard to do that as well. i now have a dell and it is tough to fit the laptop under the monitor as the cables get in the way. i now have them wrapped around the stand.

so i found a thin monitor that has the back mount towards the lower area on the back and what i can do is build a mount that lets me turn the monitor upside down and then i have plenty of room to set the laptop screen.

but now i have to tell win10 to invert the screen to seei. so can anyone tell me if i do this will that setting keep, so i do not have to reset it everytime i turn the pc on from being turned off completely. i figure if i take the laptop off the monitor i will have the screen upside down and have to reset it again but if i have to do that it will be seldom as i have other pcs i use in the living room.

what would be nice is to have it so when the laptop is connected to the monitor it would show the inverted screen and when i unplugged it from the monitor the screen would again be correct for the laptop. but like i say that is not a deal breaker.

    That is normal behaviour, yes.
You set up the external monitor in Settings, System, Display, [select the external display,] Display orientation.
Your laptop's own display will not be affected.

I also find this handy for playing around with monitors.

ok thanks i wa hoping that would be the case.

ok so i went to system display and to the identity and the monitor is display 2 and flipped the monitor and kept the setting then i unplugged the monitor and the laptop came on and it was normal. i then plugged in the monitor and it was still inverted. so that is great. i can get a better monitor that i can flip over and have the room for the laptop screen tucked up and behind the what would have been the top of the monitor. and have the room to move the laptop around a bit as needed.

one thing that puzzles me is the browser never quite stays at the manual size i set it to. if i restart the pc the browser opens to about 2/3rds the vertical size but the horizontal size does stay the same. it is more of a nuisance that anything else. but had to mention it just in case there may be a cure for that.

    thanks
