    Windows 10 "Thinks" I have a 4:3 monitor. Does not give 1920x1080

I upgraded a Windows 7 Dell Optiplex 780 to Windows 10 and for some reason, Windows 10 "Thinks" I have a 4:3 monitor installed and it only gives me 4:3 resolutions even with the latest graphics driver and monitor driver.

However, 1920x1440 IS an option, proving that the graphics card and drivers is capable of high-resolution displays but I have no 16:9 resolutions available other than 1366x768

When Windows 7 was installed, this desktop was running in 1920x1080 so it definitely is more than capable of running in that resolution.

This is an Intel 4 Q45 express chipset. Dell E2211Hc monitor.

I spent the last 14 hours trying to fix this and nothing has worked.

You need to download the Dell E2211H monitor driver. Looking at the extracted INF file, it tops out at 1920x1080.

You did not read what I typed. I said that I had the monitor driver.

That is literally the one I downloaded before I made the post.

Extract the contents of that Dell file. Right click on the E2211H.inf file > install.

Does the resolution list in the Intel Control Panel match what it says in Windows 10 ?
Does the ICM profile appear in Colour Management ?

The ICM profile is part of the driver, just checking.

Your hardware seems to be 14 years old so chances of some hardware going out of spec are higher.

I have a Dell Inspiron 580 with Win7 connected to my 4-port KVM along with computers running Win10, Win11 and Linux Mint. All 4 computers running same resolution of 1920x1080 with a Dell 24" monitor. No issues and I've never installed any monitor software but then I have no graphics-editing need for color matching/adjustment. With my older eyes I do need to adjust Scaling to 125%. It is important to have the proper graphics adapter software installed.
