Any good LCD display testing software for vertical and horizontal band

I have a laptop that shows a vertical band on the right hand side. I'm wondering what is a good test software to help pinpoint the color and help it stand out. Moreover, one could have more than one veritical band not to mention horizontal band(s).

One I can determine that the band is present reliably, I can then purchase a new LCD replacement for it. I realize that some laptop bios' have a builtin self test. But it always passes, and isn't detailed enough to help narrow down or show a real problem.

Ok, for the different solid primary colors, I can see what the used computer vendor stated on the left side now, as a white splotch. Moreover, there is a vertical line one the right about an inch from the edge from top to bottom of the screen that must have occurred recently, since the vendor didn't catch that.

Lines can mean damaged display cables rather than defective displays.

    Best of luck,

Yes, but once I get around to replacing the screen, the cables will be fixed too since the screen will be new. I'm trying to upgrade and fix the other stuff such as missing screws, HDD caddy and upgrade the ram.

It is perfectly possible that the screen is alright and that the symptoms you see are entirely caused by damaged display cabling.
It might even be both the screen & the cable.
I have seen lines caused by damaged cables three times and have never had a defective screen.

    Best of luck,

I've replaced the bad lcd for my Dell inspirion 13 7353 laptop and the white splotch and vertical bar on the left side has disappeared.

I just came across this as part of the Dell builtin test for displays.
1). Hold the letter "D" on the keyboard (doesn't matter if lowercase) while turning on the laptop

It will then start cycling through the primary colors and white.

One could boot into the bios and run diagnostics which then displays the colors and color bands vertical and horizontal, but the letter "d" test is quicker.

Now, I've got to find out why the touchscreen doesn't work although the lcd is brand new.
The HID drivers for the pen, touch pad and touch screen aren't loaded in device manager. The I2C driver won't start either.
If i touch the lcd, there is no splotch like one would get if one stares at a street light and ones eyes can't focus.
Note: One has to be logged in to test touching the screen to see if the splotch appears when touching the screen.

The I2C driver not starting is also due to the touchpad not working. So when the I2C driver isn't working, its probably due to either the touchscreen and/or the touchpad. If one disables the touchscreen via device manager, the I2C driver should still load since the HID touch screen driver loaded. It's only when the HID driver doesn't load.

I had bought a replacement touchpad that goes on the Dell Inspirion 13 7348, 7359, 7378 laptops. However, I've found out that the Dell part number for the 7353 is different. I'm waiting on one from China to see if the part number is the cause of it not working. I've updated the bios for the Dell 7353 and that didn't fix it either. I don't think the ribbon cable is the cause since I've cleaned the cables contacts and inserted it multiple times. There is no Dell diagnostic test in the bios or through support assist program that does LCD touch testing and any touchpad (to include moving, left/right keys) testing considering this can also fail and needs testing. An external msoft mouse is recognized though by Windows and by the Bios when it is plugged in while these are being displayed.

So here's a list of used Dell inspirion 13 laptops I got off ebay and am fixing.
7353, 7359, 7378 (mostly to get higher cpu speeds). Work laptop is 7348.
Some of these had bad lcds, touchpads, and no hard drives.
Hard drives were bought that are the 2.5 inch SSD and the NGFF ones along with installing OS' and apps on all of these.
The NVME with "M" only, ones can't be used in place of NGFF. I don't think those being sold as NVME NGFF with B+M will work - it must be NGFF only. Moreover, the NGFF doesn't have generations, only the NVME as Gen 1-5. Should this laptop be able to use NVME, it probably couldn't use Gen 4,5 due to the heat and there is no space for a heatsink, let alone the moutherboard port being an older generation such that one wouldn't get the max speed out of the SSD.

Still working as mentioned the lcd touch, and touch pad issues.

In my Dell touchscreen laptop, there is no separately-identifiable touchscreen driver. I use Dell drivers & downloads pages & the computer's Dell Service tag to get the drivers. And the touchscreen is set up & working by the time I have done them all without any specific touchscreen action on my part.
When preparing for a reinstallation, I always backup all my drivers so I have a means of getting them all back in use quickly & simply. Backup and Restore Device Drivers - TenForumsTutorials

My Dell's M.2 slot is only for a NGFF SATA 'disk'. Most manufacturer's seem to have given up on them these days.
It appears that M.2 NVMe is now the standard. I have two other computers with M.2 slots and they are both NVMe.
In addition to the specs provided by Dell, Crucial might provide additional info about which type a computer model can use.

    All the best,
    Denis
