Watch Internet sites on smart TV

I have a Vizio 50 inch smart tv. Let me say I do have an hdmi cable connected from my Windows 10 PC to the TV.

I would like to be able to watch websites (such as netflix.com) on my smart tv.

Does anyone have clue how to do this?

    Thanks

1 Set your TV to accept a PC input. This will be explained in its user manual.
2 Check that the computer detects it as a display in Settings, System, Display.
3 Switch between the computer monitor & the TV using WinKey-P repeatedly [or WinKey-P once then the keyboard's up & down arrow keys].

I do it all the time. I find the the most convenient way is to set up Project to Extend the display. My desktop is then extended across two screens, one half on the PC's own display, the other on the TV, each one using the full resolution of their respective screens. All I have to do then is click and drag my web browser, Disney+ app, or whatever I'm using to view the video to the second screen and run it full screen there.

Callender's link takes you to a page that describes how to do exactly what I've described above.

After speeding an hour or so with Vizio User Manual, I found the information on Smartcast. It actually does NOT work the way the user manual states. I then spent some time playing with Vizio remote. I think I finally got it figured out.

LOL I still need an account for Netflix. I know it wishful thinking not to have to have the account.

Netflix really screwed a lot of people over. Example my brother-in-law has a netflix account that up to four people can use and I was on his user list. In the last week or so Netflix decided that only people in the same house could use his account. To me that was really a NASTY blow. He is paying big money for that account and it can not be used for what it was meant to be used.

    Just blowing some steam off.

    Thanks everyone.

For me if I want to use the computer for something else when watching TV via HDMI then extend display works.

If I just want to duplicate the display to watch TV:

    Plug in HDMI cable.

    Select Source via TV.

    It shows up on TV:

Since you say you have a Vizio SmartTV does it have its own apps. If it does you can use those and not even need to use your PC.

I am uncertain as to what exactly you are want to do:
    Using PC:
#1. Log onto Netflix, etc. from a browser on your PC then run an HDMI cable to the TV. Any TV will work as long as it has an HDMI input.
#2. Log onto Netflix, etc. from a browser on your PC then project PC display wirelessly to the TV. Both your PC and TV must support Miracast.
    Using TV (PC not used):
#3. Launch apps such a Netflix on your SmartTV.
#4. Use streaming device such as an Amazon Fire TV Stick. Apps on streaming device used instead of the ones on SmartTV.
    Using cable box:
#5. Launch apps such as Netflix from your cable box if it has them

I have used all of these methods except #4. Which method is best depends upon the capabilities of your PC and TV. Fairly new PCs and TVs should support many of these methods.

#1 like I said will work with most TVs. The only downside is you have to run a HDMI across the room.

#2 will save having to run an HDMI cable but the video quality is not as good as #1. Sometimes the wifi signal is unstable.

#3 is the best option if your SmartTV has the latest apps. This works the same way as #5 but the apps launch must faster.

#4 I have not used a streaming device. I have heard it works quite well.

#5 is only available if your cable provider supports it. My provider Comcast has numerous apps with its X1 platform.

Below you can see just a few of the apps I can launch from my Samsung SmartTV. No PC needed.

    Easy.
For all those "smart" services: you pay, you see.
    There are a few exceptions.

Your smart TV should already have a Netflix App. Does it not? Do you not see it in the line up of Apps in your TV?
