Hi everyone, my GPU failed, while searching for replacements came across the Nvidia Quadro 1000m, and it worked out of the box (running Windows 10), so I'm keeping it.

First problem: brightness and contrast didn't work, screen remained at full brightness. After testing and pushing buttons I got it working by removing Nvidia 3D whatever, Visor whatever, and N-view desktop whatever, but while the brightness control worked, it wasn't fully consistent. The panel allows to select controlling the brightness via Nvidia functions, or other programs. Fixed! then discovered I only needed to logout and login, and the brightness control would work using Nvidia panel, or whatever other software.

Main problem: something seemed odd... the cursor looked too bright. Then I realized the LCD backlight remains at full brightness, and any brightness-contrast adjustment is done via the color pixels, like... the overlay. I don't like this for both health and energy consumption reasons, and let's not forget led usage reducing it's own lifespan.

During my web searches, I have found LOTS of people having issues with Nvidia graphic cards, specially the brightness and contrast, exactly what I'm describing, and this covers multiple GPU models, not just the Nvidia Quadro. I know it's an old GPU, so it's becoming difficult to find answers, instead... tons of abandoned threads without solution. I'm not interested on Linux, I mention this because lots of people recommend it, or still they are having the same issues and kind of sort them out with some terminal tricks, I MUST stay in Windows due to specific Adobe software.

Came across someone (from Asia) saying there was a trick via the .inf file (driver) or some registry hack to fix this, but he can't remember the details (and I couldn't found those details). To make matters worse, our interactions are affected by lost-in-translation effects, and something else, because communication with this person shows difficulties (not just language), I'll leave it there.

I'm running Windows 10, all the devices work and have their respective fully working drivers, I have no lag, artifacts, or errors. Yes, it's an iMac (Intel running Windows 10 as explained), but I see this is a GPU problem. I noticed a lot of people gave up with their laptops and moved on to new computers with newer graphic cards, I want to give this a try, it's a 27" screen, worth the effort. I won't go back to MacOSX because I can't upgrade to newer versions and install the software I use, also, I can't talk about how the brightness used to work in the past, because it was MacosX, and it was a fully different graphic card (the one that died).

Thanks in advance.
