    HDMI Intermittently Detected

Usually a fresh start it picks it up fine. But changing displays it often does not detect one of my monitors which was previously attached via a display station. Then connecting separately via HDMI it fails sometimes. Reconnecting it does nothing, my only option then is to restart.

The past 6 months or so things have started to fail on this computer; hardware seems fine & has been well looked after - my experience is 99.9% of the time it is software related.

If the monitor/s have an option so that you can chose the source video manually (HDMI/Display) try choosing that. Then when you replug in the HDMI connector you can select it through the monitor. In other words, I think your monitor is auto detecting and being stupid. By the way, is it a Samsung?

May or may not fix the issue, but it's a shot.

Thanks, no joy, it's an Asus.

The device is showing to be connected via HDMI when the monitor loads up but it is in a standby transe-like state & I can't access the source selection in the monitor whilst it is connected.

Yep. I have the same issue when I boot a live OS. I always thought it was my stupid Samsung monitor and how it detects the signal. I'll do more research later and see if there's a solution.

Anyone got any ideas? It is being detected but it will not extend to it/ mirror unless I restart the computer. Have tried

    • Disconnecting power at monitor & selecting it's input to hdmi but it will not extend.
    • Updating graphics card driver
    • Updating monitor driver
    • Dxdiag yields no errors

disconnecting power at monitor & selecting it's input to hdmi but it will not extend.

Are you using the laptop's key combination to enable the monitor?

Thanks, no just plugging it in as normal; it should be picked up via the voltage sensor in hdmi/ whatever input is used. Out of interest I tried to connect to it after sleep via the keyboard buttons > Extend menu but no additional connectivity.

    Device Manager I Noticed
Driver Management has concluded the process to add Service NVDisplay.ContainerLocalSystem for Device Instance ID PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_1BE1&SUBSYS_17D01043&REV_A1\4&71EF661&0&0008 with the following status: 0.

Don't use the low power modes of sleep and hibernation. Completely power off and on again.

Asus G752VSK though i don't think that makes much difference.

We've discussed this several times - I need to be able to sleep now and again. Again as mentioned previously this is coming in & out of meetings where i need to be able to quickly access pre-loaded files. I was able to put to sleep for several years. If sleep was so bad Windows would remove it from their OS.

You have tried pressing and holding the FN key and then hitting F8?
