Acer Predator monitor won't go above 1080, not being detected properly
I just plugged an Acer Predator into my computer. I have it connected through a KVM and I am using the HDMI cable to go to my DVI KVM and then out through a DVI->HDMI cable. I get a fine picture at 1080, but windows lists the monitor in the device manager as "2727 LCD Monitor."
Is there something that needs to be done to get the monitor recognized? I went to the ACER page and didn't see drivers for it.

What happens if you connect the monitor directly rather than going through a KVM?

Good question--When I do a direct connection it works fine. It might help if I explain the connection I have as this might be the issue.
I have a GCS1642 KVM and it is listed as Dual Link, and it says it supports up to 3840x2160 which is what it is configured for. At present what I am doing is running an HDMI->DVI Adapter->KVM->DVI/HDMI Adapter. Is it possible that my cables are the issue? The cable I'm using is an HDMI to DVI-D cable.

If so, what cables do I need?

Very good question, and I'm not certain about that. That might take a little research. I'd be particularly suspicious of the fact that you are having to convert between DVI and HDMI - twice.
Let's see if anyone else has a better knowledge on this topic. If you don't any more authoritative answers, I'll be glad to attempt some research.

The KVM and adapters is the problem not the cables.

Yeah you're right. I've tried multiple permutations of adapters and nothing worked. I'm going to have to bite the bullet and just get a different KVM, which I was really hoping to avoid given the position that this one is in but it is what it is.

A different KVM is not going to solve the issue. You are just wasting money at this point.

You're likely right--I did speak with the vendor though and the model I'm using isn't going to do what I need(4k@60hz) so I need a different unit. I was able to get something working via changing the cables I was using out. It works for the most part.

Ok well changed out the KVM--getting the full 4k now.
