    Graphic Dirvers Not Matching Up

    Hi All!

I recently purchased a refurbished computer that has Windows 10 installed. It works great, but I had a lot of problems installing Minecraft. I was told that the problem was with my graphics card and I needed to update it. I went and updated my graphics card, but I noticed that the type of graphics card listed in the Device Manager is different than the one listed in the DirectX Diagnostics Tool.

The Device Manager says that my graphics card is an "Intel 530" and the Direct Diagnostics Tool says that it is the "Microsoft Basic Display Adapter."

Shouldn't the driver be the same no matter where I look? If so, how do I make the Device Manager match what the DirectX Diagnostic Tool says?

Thanks for you help in advance!

What is the Make and Model # of Computer or Motherboard?
How did you Update the Graphics?
Press the Windows key + X and choose Device Manager. Expand Display. The display adapter should be the Intel, if the Microsoft drive is listed, the you need to download the driver from the manufacturer.
It sounds like you do not have a GPU (Video Card) installed and are using the onboard Graphics, which are limited for gaming.
Go to your Computer or Motherboard manufacturer and type in the Make and Model #. Download the Intel VGA / Graphics Driver for your model. Double click it to install. This should load the Intel driver. How to Install the Intel(R) Graphics Command Center From the...
If you want to use this computer for gaming, then you need to install a GPU that meets the minimum requirements for running the game.

Thank you so much, Spunk! That solved the problem!

I don't plan on using my computer for gaming in the future. My daughter's computer is at the repair shop right now, so she wanted to use mine to play Minecraft. I mainly use mine to work from home and do a little web surfing. Until now, I haven't ever really cared about the graphic drivers in it.

But thanks again! I am not super tech-savvy and you explained everything perfectly so that I could understand it!
