Have anyone try playing movie/drama in AVI format (raw video) using your high performance monitor/gpu?
I played Heavenly sword and Dragon sabre 2003 converted to AVI (raw video) , 480x360 resoluation, audio at 16bit, 44.1khz. The play is very good, but it's expensive since the size is 18gb. It also utilize the 3D hardware of my GPU. Here are some screenshots. Kindly share your opinions / playing experience.
I have no problem playing AVI videos, but I have a difficult time understanding why one would want to use the AVI format these days.
With compression such as MP4, HEVC (H.265), and VC1, you can get absolutely stunning video quality (when done right!) and high-quality multi-channel audio tracks at a tiny fraction of the size.
As an avid video collector, with many thousands of hours of video, high compression while maintaining extremely high quality is important to me. Without compression, it simply wouldn't be possible to keep so much video.
AVI format is popular in China & SE Asia, due to the low cost of producing non-MPEG playback devices. MP4 requires a nominal licensing fee. If the local market doesn't mind the low-resolution, it works for them.
480p video playback doesn't really burden any modern PC, even with integrated graphics. This benchmark doesn't tell you anything about the system's real limits.

I compared the play between mp4 and avi (raw video / audio). Drama/movie converted to avi (raw video / audio)
does not look and sound compress. It suit better as a play / viewing contend. Compression audio / video tend to emit
harmful hidden signal.

Update: The purpose of this thread is about my or anyone experience playing drama/drama
on AVI (raw audio/video) format. To realise the difference between raw audio/video and picture/sound by (using compression technology) on drama/movie. I actually see and hear the difference but sadly flat lcd panel
won't allow raw video to play with full volume depth.
