Nvidia Display Container LS Service/High CPU usage

Since I updated the Nvidia driver to latest Driver Version 531.18 I noticed that the Nvidia Container randomly starts with high CPU usage. I was able to "fix" this by stopping and disabling the "Nvidia Display Container LS" service. Is it safe to disable such service? Thanks

    It's caused by
    C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\nv_dispig.inf_amd64_abf7e4e84f20581c\Display.NvContai ner\plugins\Session\_NvGSTPlugin.dll

A game session telemetry plugin (shocker right) ...you can safely delete the dll & it'll stop. Nvidia has claimed to have it fixed for next driver release.

Your nv_dispig.inf_amd64 folder may have different set of numbers.

Hi, in my case there is no such "nv_dispig.inf_amd64_(numbers)" folder, the only place where the _NvGSTPlugin.dll file is located is:

    C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\nvdmig.inf_amd64_8a57977f272129bb\Display.NvContainer \plugins\Session\_NvGSTPlugin.dll

    1) So I can go ahead and safely delete it?
    2) As I mentioned in my original post, disabling the Service fixed the issue, is it OK to disable it, or will it cripple Windows in any way?
    Thanks

Your way makes it go away for a bit but it'll come back. There's no harm in killing the task to stop it, but that is the dll file (yes you can delete it)...it's just for telemetry. No harm.

You'll have to take ownership of the folder or file yourself b4 it'll let you delete or rename it. There's a whole bunch of talk about the issue over on NVIDIA GeForce 531.18 WHQL driver Download & Discussion | Page 9 | guru3D Forums

Thanks , yes I had to take ownership since even as administrator it did not allow me to rename or delete it. It's not the first time that Nvidia messes things with a new driver. It's always useful to keep a copy of the previous driver just in case.

UPDATE: I had to enable the "Nvidia Display Container LS" Service because otherwise the Nvidia Control Panel would not open. However so far no high CPU usage , deleting the _NvGSTPlugin.dll file as Whackbag suggested fixed it.
