At Startup, Windows uses 150% scaling on 39" 1080p monitor.

I've been using the HDMI input of a 39" Insignia Roku TV set as a monitor. It's been flawless for some time, but lately (several months ago) it started randomly switching to 150% scaling, which looks awful. I go straight to Display settings and reset to 100% (Windows recommends 150%) and I'm good until the next boot or sign-in. It used to be random but now is happening regularly. Some dialog boxes remain at 150% (like the moving files context menus) but the graph of the move looks fine.

Is there any way I can tell Windows to leave my settings alone? Better yet, is there a way to troubleshoot whatever is causing this?

    Thanks for any help!

    The normal procedures are
Change your DPI Scaling Level for Displays - TenForumsTutorials
Turn On or Off Fix Scaling for Apps that are Blurry - TenForumsTutorials
but it sounds like you are doing it correctly already.

Does SFC report any errors? SFC-DISM - TenForumsTutorials Option 3 is the normal choice.

Does your display card maker supply an updated driver? Personally, I'd reinstall the same one if a later one was not available just to bowl out driver corruption as a potential source of the problem.

    Best of luck,
    Denis

    Welcome to TenForums.

It's really worth making time to browse through the Tutorial index - there's a shortcut to it at the top of every page.
    - At the foot of the Tutorial index is a shortcut to download it as a spreadsheet.
    - I download a new copy each month.
    - By downloading it as a spreadsheet I can benefit from Excel's excellent filtering capabilities when I search for topics of interest.
    - Tutorials are also listed by category at Tutorials - there's also a shortcut to that at the top of every page.
    - Both tutorial lists are searchable.
    - You can also search for TenForumsTutorials in many general search engines, such as Google, by adding site:tenforums.com/tutorials after your search term. For example,
    taskbar toolbars site:tenforums.com/tutorials

You can search TenForums using the search box in the top-right corner of all TenForums webpages or using Advanced Search - TenForums
    - You can also search TenForums threads in many general search engines, such as Google, by adding site:tenforums.com after your search term. For example,
Search for drivers by HardwareID site:tenforums.com
    - [This is what the search box in the top-right corner of TenForums webpages does automatically]

    SFC

Happily, Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations.

I've looked high and low for anyone else having this problem. All I've found are links to how to set up the scaling. But I have no idea why I have to do this every time I start up. Since it's an HDMI connection, I tried starting the monitor first, then booting. No help. I will look into the Radeon drivers but I'm thinking this is more of a Windows issue. Never hurts to try.

So I updated the drivers for the Radeon to the latest version, and upon first bootup everything came up correctly.

I will keep this open a few more bootups just to make sure this issue stays solved, but off to a good start.

This morning I started the PC and Windows came up at 150% scaling. So we can rule out the graphics drivers.
But it's a real PITA having to set it after most every bootup. Why won't Windows remember my settings?

An additional clue might be that every time this happens (or, most times) I am also required to resetup Clear Type.

    Anyway, help would be appreciated.

I note my post has been moved to Graphic Cards. I'm not convinced about that.
