    Dual Monitor Setup Issue

    Hello Ten Forums,

I currently am experiencing a bit of a weird issue on my 2 monitor desktop setup.

When I am in a full screen application/game or internet browser on my primary screen, video playing or audio playing becomes choppy and broken from applications on my second screen. Infact it gets so weird to the point where the applications on the second monitor can sometimes go unresponsive in Task Manager.

My First Monitor (Main Monitor used for Gaming): BENQ 27" EX2710S Linked with Display Port
My Second Monitor (Used for applications like media players and notepads): ACER 23" LED S220HQL Linked With DVI

My graphics card being an Radeon RX 580 is definitely not the issue... so I was wondering what is...

Could it be that my first monitor is running at a different refresh rate than the second?

    Any help would be appreciated.

Try setting both monitors with the same resolution and Refresh Rate and see how it goes.
You can also try updating your AMD GPU driver.

Both Monitors are running at 1920*1080. The first is at 165Hz and the other is at 60Hz. The AMD GPU Driver is up to date via Radeon Software control panel. The second monitor is only an office monitor so cannot go higher than 60Hz, however I have had dual monitor setups on windows 10 before that did not have this issue.

It's always best to update your GPU driver manually, especially if it's not working right, rather then depend on what Automatic app says.
For troubleshooting steps, make both computers 60Hz, refresh rate. You can always change it back if that doesn't solve the problem.
If this started happening recently, try doing a System Restore to a time before this happened.

Okay, I have manually downloaded Radeon Driver 21.12.1 from AMD and overrode the old driver. Even with both monitors running 60Hz any video output on Monitor 2 still stutters, and apps are still going unresponsive when the primary monitor is running full screen applications.

Could it be the DVI connection running alonside a DisplayPort cable? I suppose I could connect the second monitor via HDMI and check then?

HDMI cable directly from the monitor to the video card is always going to have a higher resolution and sometimes Refresh Rate then DVI. The DVI cable or connector on the Video card could be at fault. And If using an adapter, that could be the issue.
Try the smaller monitor on another computer with the same cables and see how it reacts.

I have switched the smaller monitor over to HDMI and stuttering is still happening. The small monitor on other machines works fine.
What im curious about is why do the applications like Firefox and others go non-responsive? Obviously thats not a monitor issue...
