While the issue as far as the installation of a replacement card is resolved my adventures with Dell's support continues. The second replacement "refurbished" video card "crashed and burned" 24 hours after I installed it. I think I'm done with Dell and their tech support, the next PC I buy won't be from them. The original video card's issue is mostly a pain in the neck and probably a Radeon utility software problem that based on what I see on Radeon's Community Forum happens a lot with all their cards and for which Radeon has never offered an answer or fix for.
That's bad luck. I wonder whether the card was defective, or whether there's an issue with the PC?

It's pretty standard to provide refurbs as warranty replacements. I've gotten replacements maybe twice in the past 20+ years. Both worked until retired.

I always had wonderful experience with refurbished computer stuff, from CPU, lots of video cards and many laptops...

If I followed the thread correctly... It's the third Video card your system "eats" in a pretty short period ???

I would really start to think there's something else... I would replace the PSU. just to make sure It wont / could not damage the next card...

and the Radeon RX5600 it has installed by Dell has had an intermittent problem (the driver appears to crash every once in a while)
Makes me think your PSU was already deteriorating...

If you're not confident with dell anymore, Also buy a sacrificial cheap video card anywhere else and test if it blows too... If it does, I would relic that MB to the hall of fame of the "one of my worst experience" in computing ever.

At this point I would be afraid to try any valuable GPU in there.

The original card has never failed and is currently installed and functioning. What I see intermittently with it is the totally useless error: “Default Radeon WattMan settings have been restored due to unexpected system failure” and that only apparently occurs because I have a custom fan curve set in the Radeon Control Panel. On the Radeon Community Forum that error is mentioned a number of times by people using various different Radeon Video Cards and I have never seen anyone post a real fix for the issue. I suspect that this may be a glitch in Radeon's software (and I believe the original Dell tech did too since he was the one that had the 1st defective video card shipped to me), but the only way to find out is to replace the current card with another card. If Dell thinks my PSU is "wonky" they should ship me another one and I'll replace it, but they have made no such offer and I'm not going to ask them for one. I'm done with them!

    Hi,

In regards of your response, You should go ahead and try another source for your replacement card.

Depending on your use, I would suggest to go with NVidia GPUs.

And also Swapping video cards should be a nearly painless process...

The way your are speaking, your system is still under warranty ? Is it ?
