    Duplicating Display

    Hello,

Our church has a Dell Inspiron one 2020, all in one that we're trying to duplicate the display onto our LG TV. We can extend the display onto the TV but for simplicity I would like to be able to duplicate it (have the same thing on both screens). When I do a WIN + P and pick duplicate, the display appears to extend, not duplicate. Any idea if there's a trick to making this happen?

The Dell has a recommended resolution of 1600x900 and the LG TV has a recommended resolution of 1920x1080. Could that be the problem? And if so, what can we do about it?

I tried setting both to a resolution of 1280x720 but it still extends the display even when we select duplicate?

Think your Dell has two graphic possibilities: integrated Intel or Nvidia. Did you try with both of them (settings are in BIOS - for disable / enable)?

I didn't realize that but I will sure will look and give it a try.

But first, I need to figure out how to get into the BIOS...

Thanks for reminding me to look into this but no such setting in the BIOS.

However, what I did notice is the machine creates a 3rd display when I pick "Duplicate". As you can by the first screenshot, it appears as just "wired display" and the second screenshot shows 1 & 3 being recognized and not 2. Then when I go back to extend I have 3 displays instead of 2. So keep this in mind, the additional display is listed as 3 in "display settings" where it says to rearrange your displays but 2 in "advanced display settings."

Lastly, in advanced display settings, the LCD monitor not shows a status of, "isn't active".

    I'm puzzled, any ideas?

How is LG TV connected to your Dell? That LCD TV showing is connected via USB adapter (Insignia). What kind of adapter is that?

    Hi,

I think you should try to connect with the HDMI port instead of the USB adapter, try to force 720p check in advanced option that refresh rates are matching for both monitor and see if you can use the duplicate function.

Also I would remove and uninstall the drivers of USB Adapter completely to try.

But... There is also maybe a reason for that, and the person who did this was probably trying to workaround some HDMI port problems. So you may discover something else trying.

The adapter is this one from BestBuy https://www.bestbuy.com/site/insigni...?skuId=6418342

I went and got it when I discovered the Dell doesn't have a HDMI port to connect to the LG.

What's weird is it works just fine in "Extend Display" mode, it doesn't does this when I select "Duplicate..." I'll be up at the church later and will check the refresh rate.

I should probably add, that third "wired display" that appears is some kind of pseudo and virtual device as it doesn't show any resolution, refresh rates, etc... All those numbers are blank. Only sign of it is what I posted in the pictures.
