Who has bought a Nvidia RTX 3000 series or an AMD RX6000 series GPU

The latest graphic cards from Nvidia and AMD have been hard to get since they were launched last year. Even when you found them available they were for prices much higher than MSRP.

Ebay and Amazon were out because there were no cards there for reasonable prices

I signed up for the Newegg Shuffle but never heard anything. I gave on it because the rules were overly complicated.

About seven months ago I went the B&H Photo website and selected "Notify When Available" on several RTX 3000 cards. A few months later I got a couple notifications that some cards were in stock. The caveat was that it was first serve only. Since it had been a day since I was sent the email I did not even check to see if any were still available.

In June 2021 I got a bunch of notifications from B&H Photo that all the RTX 3000 series cards they had previously listed were being discontinued. I then forgot about the matter.

I was surprised to see new notifications on October 11, 2021. I was told that the following cards were available:
    • ASUS GeForce RTX 3060 TUF GAMING V2 OC Graphics Card ($619.99)
    • ASUS GeForce RTX 3060 Ti Republic of Gamers Strix V2 OC Graphics Card ($649.99)

This time things were different. I was guaranteed to get one or both of these cards if I completed the purchase(s) in 48 hours or less.

Note that B&H Photo only sells these cards for those prices to people on the wait list for each card,

The few other places that had these cards for sale wanted $900 or more for them.

I purchased the ASUS RTX 3060 Ti ROG Strix V2 OC. Note V2 in the part number indicates that these cards were the new LHR versions.

I am still not happy that I paid so much for this card. However, I would never have paid $800 or more for one of them.

Several people on this site have bought the new cards. I bought a 3080 FTW3 from EVGA in June.

The Newegg Shuffle lottery offered me the ASUS TUF-RTX3060TI-O8G-V2-GAMING for $610.00 so I grabbed it. I believe this is more than MSRP on this card, but was still cheaper than any of the other buying opportunities I came across.

I just checked Newegg. There is a 3rd party seller there selling the same card for more than $1000.

The launch Nvidia MSRP for the RTX3060TI last December was $399. The original ASUS ASUS TUF-RTX3060TI-O8G-GAMING I think was first sold for $459.99. With high demand and short supply the launch MSRP is meaningless. $610 is probably considered the new MSRP for the ASUS TUF-RTX3060TI-O8G-V2-GAMING.

I would buy a RX 6800XT or a RTX 3080 if I could do so without being financially assaulted. Living in Canada, the prices are nothing short of obscene here. I may wait for the next generation and just upgrade to this current generation at that time. I don't NEED a 4080, a 3080 will do if the prices ever come down.

They have, at least in the US. Reseller (scalper) prices on the 3080 have dropped from 3X original MSRP to 2X.

Hard to predict how long the current situation will endure into 2022. (Or 2023?)

The way it looks, nobody can get today's GPUs for msrp until next gen comes out.
