Extend Monitor setting lost on reboot

Had a few instances of this happen. Dual monitor setup, this is on a POS terminal running Win10. Front is a touch display, rear is a monitor, like you'd see at a Wendy's or something, graphical rear display is our terminology, shows what is being rung up during an order and shows images for suggestive selling while idle...

We utilize this by having the monitors extend the desktop onto the second display. Works great.

However, noticing that we're having an issue where that setting can be lost and it 'defaults' back to duplicating displays.

I've managed to work around it by adding a command

    displayswitch /extend

to our startup, so.. Every time the terminal starts up, it sets the display to be extended. It works fine.. Just.. Curious if anyone else has run across this problem and figured out just why it's happening.

Sometimes, every reboot it happens. Sometimes, it's.. Seemingly random.. My theory is that an update might be resetting it or something.

Perhaps ,there's some issue with the power up where windows is starting so fast that the second display hasn't 'powered up' fully to be detected or something.

Not a huge deal, just.. Weird.. and I don't like weird without an explanation. Should be version 1806, though that is from memory, so don't shoot me.

Oh.. well.. ok.. here.. So, maybe I was wrong.

    Microsoft Corporation, Windows 10 Enterprise 2016 LTSB (10.0.14393) (en-US)

Most of the time using the Video adapter manufacturers Control panel to save these setting is better.

If you are using Windows to configure your multi display and have the manufacturers Control panel installed at the same time. They may sometimes interfere with each other.

If you want to use Windows only, Uninstall all other CP's and use only the video driver without any additional software.

Or better Leave Windows as is and use only manufacturers one.

Don't THINK there is a manufacturer, but.. A solid thought, I'll check if it's installed, and if there isn't one, I may look to see if there is one available.

Press the Windows key+X and choose Device Manager. Expand Display Adapter, that will tell you the manufacturer. (Ie) nVidia, AMD, Intel.
If you right click a blank space on the desktop, it should show you the Video Card manufacturers control panel

Just FYI post. I run a triple monitor setup. I do my selection via Windows System Display options. Windows 10 Pro.
I do have the Nvidia Settings option but haven't used it. It shows up in the taskbar down by the clock. I left it there and just hid it. It's in the start menu somewhere too.
I don't remember my 3 monitor extend display ever being changed by a Windows update? If it did happen it was a one of, very rare occurrence.
