Can anyone advise me when graphics card prices will revert back to MSRP levels? I need a AMD Radeon™ RX 6800 XT so bad.
My current graphics card (XFX RX 5700 XT) is fine but is a weak point in my upgraded system. I refuse to pay scalpers anything.
Is there any verifiable method of knowing what the MSRP is supposed to be? Tech news has had lots to say about chip shortages, enough to stop some vehicle production, which with shortages of all kinds of things drive up the costs to the consumer, all about supply and demand, includes that ugly term inflation.
1. when the chip shortage ends (a while)
2. when supply chains catch up (a while)
3. when crypto miners stop using them (never)
3. when companies have their own fabrication for chips (not likely)
4. when TSMC doubles production (not likely)
You realize even auto production lines have shut down because even they dont have any chips to use.
If you're lucky, the supply/demand issues will sort themselves sometime in 2022.

I've read there is a strong change that the high prices and such are going to continue throughout 2022 and into 2023.
The big unknown is the continued profitability of crypto coin mining. GPU demand will track profitability.
In a different forum, some people have suggested that NVidia doesn't care about gamers (and creatives) any longer, not when they can do bulk sales to miners. Strictly speaking, that may not be true, but NVidia certainly hasn't done much to assure a decent supply of cards to retail purchasers.

Sure its cat and mouse, but eventually the miners will give up and stick with older stock or go with an ASIC machine.

Nvidia doesnt make the chips, they design them. Store stock is dependent on TSMC's output. TSMC makes chips for everyone, and they only have so many machines

I feel like there's something that no one's telling us about. I don't believe it's just the coronaviruses and the inflation that was already occurring back in the 2010s! Also there's no such issue with SSDs, despite silicon shortages being reported. Even getting PC SDRAM isn't that treacherous!
