I feel like there's something that no one's telling us about. I don't believe it's just the coronaviruses and the inflation that was already occurring back in the 2010s! Also there's no such issue with SSDs, despite silicon shortages being reported. Even getting PC SDRAM isn't that treacherous!
Don't forget about miners. They use lots and lots of GPUs

Is there any verifiable method of knowing what the MSRP is supposed to be? Tech news has had lots to say about chip shortages, enough to stop some vehicle production, which with shortages of all kinds of things drive up the costs to the consumer, all about supply and demand, includes that ugly term inflation.
MSRP is the price shown on manufacturers web site. They are always sold out though.

    1. when the chip shortage ends (a while)
    2. when supply chains catch up (a while)
    3. when crypto miners stop using them (never)
    3. when companies have their own fabrication for chips (not likely)
    4. when TSMC doubles production (not likely)

You realize even auto production lines have shut down because even they dont have any chips to use.
What is sad, though is that when all those things happen, the prices won't come down.

I am trying to figure out how to buy my card in a foreign nation so as to go around the sick disgusting greed in the USA. When I successfully do this I will post my experience here so you all can also go around scalpers who think they are wise guys. If someone can successfully do this without spending more than MSRP + 15%, let us know.
Yes to be clear, I am American and I love my country.

And don't think about avoiding taxes, most countries have a VAT/Value Added Tax or GST/Goods and Services Tax of some type. If wanting to avoid tax travel to a state that has sales no tax such as Montana.

Why do you think that you might get a card outside the US without paying scalper's prices?

For example: prescription drug charges are often lower outside the US. That is usually due to governmental price regulation, rather than free market pricing.

I doubt that any governments regulate the prices of graphics cards. If that's wrong, I will cheerfully accept corrections.

If you don't want to pay scalpers' prices, I think that you have two choices: luck or patience. Luck would be looking around and finding a card at a reasonable price in the milliseconds before a scalper buys it. Patience is waiting for supply to increase to meet demand. 2023, maybe?

I found a new factory sealed card I can use, still way overpriced but from a well known and highly respected seller. approx $1000 US. Still 30% over MSRP but I have no other choice. I am still searching overseas options.... ToBeContinued. Or maybe not.
Appreciate all the suggestions and comments. This card is coming down slightly it seems.. Should I wait? The biggest fear is that I will pay inflated price then see the prices drop at all the standard retailers. Ohhh that would upset me. After looking at so many cards, now I think I need the newest one or two of them. $5000 US for a couple late model graphics cards? What is this world coming to. Close my eyes, put on my headphones and tune in some Motley C. "Shout at the Devil." Bye for now

    Welcome to TenForums.

It's really worth making time to browse through the Tutorial index - there's a shortcut to it at the top of every page.
    - At the foot of the Tutorial index is a shortcut to download it as a spreadsheet.
    - I download a new copy each month.
    - By downloading it as a spreadsheet I can benefit from Excel's excellent filtering capabilities when I search for topics of interest.
    - Tutorials are also listed by category at Tutorials - there's also a shortcut to that at the top of every page.
    - Both tutorial lists are searchable.
    - You can also search for TenForumsTutorials in many general search engines, such as Google, by adding site:tenforums.com/tutorials after your search term. For example,
    taskbar toolbars site:tenforums.com/tutorials

You can search TenForums using the search box in the top-right corner of all TenForums webpages or using Advanced Search - TenForums
    - You can also search TenForums threads in many general search engines, such as Google, by adding site:tenforums.com after your search term. For example,
Search for drivers by HardwareID site:tenforums.com
    - [This is what the search box in the top-right corner of TenForums webpages does automatically]

I'm located in the US. Whenever I look at a non-US website, the prices are just as bad as they are in the US. Maybe I could find a cheaper price from some sketchy/never heard of them website somewhere in China, but I think that when you get defrauded somehow, don't say you weren't warned.

Since I do have a budget for this purchase, I really don't have any choice at this point, but to be patient, very patient. I have found that trying to use a discord channel or some similar approach is just a waste of time. And the Newegg Shuffle, don't get me started on that ripoff.
