    dark

    screen goes dark
    it goes dark by itself
    its laptop
its not settings, already checked that

to be clear, it goes completely dark, doesnt dim, just completely blanks out, goes completely dark

what are the top 5-10 most common causes of this? so we know how to troubleshoot

is there a way to check if laptop is defective?
or anything inside laptop is defective?

should drivers be re-installed? why or why not? what would installing do?

what if laptop has a defective 'screen turn off' sensor?
like what if the os is turning off screen randomly because os is broken

    how to fix that?
what are the various options and ways?

how do we know if its onboard graphics or indidivudal graphic card that is causing this?
is this sign computer gonna break? and drop dead soon?

to be clear, it goes completely dark, doesnt dim, just completely blanks out, goes completely dark

Dark, or just darker ? When does this happen ?

Check your power settings ? Some laptop manufacturers have built-in darken facility when batter reaches certain level ?

Is the battery removable ? If so, try it without the battery just with direct power connection ... does it still happen ?

    Laptop brand/make/model?

Lots of possibilities, in so many settings before need to consider hardware faults.

    Control display dimming

Bit of a shot in the dark but you might mean that the display dims but does not go blank after, say, 30 seconds of inactivity and returns to its normal brightness if you start using the keyboard or mouse once more.

See these methods of controlling this behaviour
Add or Remove Dim display after from Power Options - TenForumsTutorials
Add or Remove Dimmed display brightness from Power Options - TenForumsTutorials
or you can change the dimming behaviour directly using PowerCfg commands, see
my ditty - Use PowerCfg commands to turn off Dim display after [post #16] - TenForums

    Best of luck,

Writing using correct grammar and stating what laptop you have might help get a useful reply

Probably just 'screen off' or 'monitor off'. Mine does that. You can set the timeout.

I notice that the OP has been re-written.

So the display is turning off not just dimming.

I cannot see any explanation of when this happens.
