To add some detail to "MisterEd's" (post 10), you can use a passive DVI-D to HDMI adapter.

VGA is purely analog, so it would take an active adapter to convert its signal to HDMI. I don't know whether such an adapter would pass the correct EDID information to the PC. (Extended Display Identification Data - Wikipedia)

I don't know the vintage of the PC. Its CPU was released in Q2 2012. Nice that it has an SSD, though.

Does your monitor have a DVI input in which case you can use a DVI cable?

BTW, the listing is misleading in saying it was first available in 2019. That is when the computer probably came off lease and was refurbished for resale. It could easily be 5 years old.
Both Amazon.com and Amazon.ca do that routinely. The refurbisher supplies the year in which the refurbishing was done, and the specs in the marketing material repeat that year.

Any good hardware specs software (CPU-Z is excellent and free) will tell you the date-of-manufacture for the motherboard.

Yes, the LG monitor has a DVI-D port , HDMI port, and a Display Port.
I've ordered from Amazon the following; One Display male to DVI-D male, one Dvi-D male to Dvi-D male , and DVi-D male to HDMI male cables. Always like to have on hand different ways to cable some electronics.
BTW: if this HP 3500 don't go as planned, it goes back to Amazon with no hassles...not like some other firms that will give many reason you cannot return a non-working conmputer.
