I was going to suggest updating the chipset drivers as well, but HP lists them as "Promontory FCH". I haven't the faintest idea what that might be.
    Latest AMD Chipset Drivers Released

Despite it being a custom board, the chipset drivers still come from AMD regardless of what HP may have renamed them.

    I agree.

I was unable to quickly determine which actual chipset a "Promontory FCH" might be, to assure that I linked to the correct chipset installer.

I usually don't actively push that sort of update, but the latest drivers appear to have fixed an issue with my X570 board, where it failed to detect the graphics card when I awoke it after it had been in sleep mode for an extended period.

Hmmm. Touched a nerve, did I? Sorry. I relied on the specs you posted in "My Computer" rather than checking the HP model number. I wondered what was up, because you've been in this forum for a long time. I was pretty sure that you wouldn't post without mentioning whether the machine was a desktop or laptop. (The 1050 ti exists for both forms.)

Apparently you fixed the inconsistencies when you updated the specs (post 4). For a moment, before I noticed that, I thought that you were gaslighting me.
I had bought an HP i7 system to replace this system, was in the process of updating the specs and got sidetracked. Then I decided not to use the i7 system. Forgot all about updating system specs.

The i7 system is going to the local Senior Activity Center as a teaching tool for Windows 10 and Genealogy.

If I believe the specs, the base form of the Pavilion 590-p0044 uses onboard graphics - no discrete graphics card. (https://support.hp.com/us-en/product...ment/c06001583) I can't make that jibe with a"discrete graphics card required" sticker.
The "discrete graphics card required" sticker is on the box the AMD Ryzen 5 2600 came in, not the specs for the computer. Since I was talking about the CPUs, it never dawned on me that it could be misunderstood.

You may as well uninstall the Radeon drivers.
Yeah, but I'm one of those who carefully thinks about the next step and the action to take. I think I have three confirmations that the Radeon drivers should go, but since there has been some "argument" about what is and what isn't, I don't mind waiting to do the deed until I'm totally comfortable with it.

(Later.) I see that there has been a flurry of posting while I was preparing this. Looks like I added nothing to the discussion. I probably should delete it, but I won't, if only because of the bit of time I invested.
No, don't delete it. Every bit helps me to understand new information.

This will take some looking into, for my understanding rather than to question the observation. I see there may be a new chipset, so . . .

So, are you saying I should just download and install?

    Yes.

Despite what HP may try and claim and or rename the chipset driver package to, the drivers are closed source from AMD.

As for removing the AMD video driver, not sure what the hesitation is as you no longer have an AMD GPU/APU installed in the system.

    @Wynona

Now that I'm awake... make a full OS image backup first. Then you can "try" whatever you want, and if something breaks, just restore from the backup.

    Yeah, that's "probably" not needed.
Well, I followed through with the AMD Cleanup Utility, and it's still there! However, I'm no longer getting

    This is just weird!

Unlike me. I rush in where angels fear to tread. I almost always get away with it.

(Please don't ask about a couple of early UEFI motherboards that were bricked by unecessary BIOS updates.)

I don't think I'm going for the chipsets update. Everything I'm reading refers to Radeon graphics, and I just got rid of that cra err, umm, junk and don't want any more of it.

Besides, no matter how hard I try, I cannot find which chipset is in this computer!

I just went back to HP and got run into a circle again. My password isn't recognized and when I try to reset it, nothing happens.

So, I'm about done with HP.
