    Question about AMD legacy drivers

    Hi

Are there any available drivers for the radeon HD 5000 to 7000 series cards for 1809? I'm asking because just in case I buy a card that is in the said family I wouldn't have problems installing the drivers for it. Any tutorials for installing as well? Thanks!

The HD 5000 and HD 6000 series are supported, but with legacy drivers. https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/faq/gpu-630

Some of the 7000 series (7600 and below) also use legacy drivers. Higher end models use the latest drivers.

Do you require advice on how to download and install the software packages?

I have been testing some old cards lately, with the intent of finding homes for them. (eBay, maybe. Won't be a money maker.) An HD 5870 received legacy drivers though Windows Update. No action was needed on my part. An HD 7970 got recent drivers the same way. The 7970 is also supported under the latest Adrenalin download.

I also have a couple of 4870s. They are unsupported, but there is a work-around to install their Windows 8 drivers manually. I'm not sure why AMD stopped support. If I understand things correctly, their DirectX feature set would support Win10.

    Hi

Yes I do need a bit of assistance especially with the 5000 and 6000 series but for now I am currently searching for a good deal for a 5850, 6850 or maybe anything above the 7700 family

I'm not too familiar with the .inf method, haven't done that since few years

Generally, you just right click an .inf file and choose... Install.

You don't need that, unless you're looking for a minimalist install.

The download package from AMD will be an executable. You'll get software in addition to the bare drivers, though.
