How Do I Stop Nvid Drivers Loading??

As per my other thread, the machine i do my art on is really bugging me, as it's acquired this issue of the nVIdia Control Panel settings not being kept. i eventually found old drivers on the net, put them on, and all was fine until it turns out the drivers have been updated and the Control Panel updated to a new version that has this glitch.
The annoyance is, i have Win Updates "download other products" etc all set to "off", and i didn't have GeForce Experience installed, which is the nvid side of auto-downloads, so i'm told. So, where is this checking and downloading coming from, because i get no warnings or notifications, and how do i stop it??

    TIA

In the past there was one Nvidia update that could not be stopped by normal means.

If being delivered via Windows Update, the tutorial section offers:
Prevent Windows Update from Updating Specific Device Driver
Enable or Disable Driver Updates in Windows Update in Windows 10
Hide or Show Windows Updates in Windows 10
Turn On or Off Device Driver Automatic Installation in Windows 10
    for example which may help.

(More tutorials are linked below the main text)

However, there may be other ways Nvidia updates are handled.

One other area to check is Scheduled Tasks, there are normally a couple of update check tasks for various parts of the driver there. Autoruns form Sysinternals will list them and allow you to easily turn them off while keeping the entries in case you need to restore them later.

my Update history says the Nvid driver was updated in there, yet i already have "no" selected in
Turn On or Off Device Driver Automatic Installation in Windows 10

i'm a bit loathe to go messing w/ theothe registry things. the other irritating thing is that my other machine, running an Nvid GTX970, has no bothers. i'm guessing its driver/Control Panel are the latest and are actually stable, whereas the GTX980 one isn't stable.

    Thank you for your reply.

See other options in the tutorials I quoted, and as suggested, check for other update tasks specific to Nvidia.

not sure what i'm looking at in Task Scheduler. there's basically a Microsoft folder and a load fo sub-folders but i'm not seeing anything specific to drivers or nvidia. msconfig thing shows an nvidia display container LS running but i'm guessing that's just the normal display stuff?

Remember Pejole2165 above mentioned using Autoruns- free from MS rather than looking at the task scheduler. Startups etc are divided into sections - tabs. There's a useful 'find' option.

Please use that and search for Nvidia.

    sorry, totally overlooked that.
there's not much under an "nvidia" search, no scheduled tasks. there's an "nvlddmkm" in the Drivers tab and this is the Everything tab

If the updates are being delivered by Windows Update they should be shown in your Update History in the Drivers section.

it is, i mentioned that in post #4, but i have everything under Advanced Options turned off so i thought i'd only get MS updates.
