when restoring from sleep, no video signal

Windows version is 1909. System specs should be in my profile.

This is a new gaming machine I purchased a couple weeks ago. The issue is that when I put it to sleep, upon waking up through the power button there is no video signal. The lights are on, the fans are spinning, but the monitor reports no signal. I don't have any trouble with this monitor with my other PC or my Mac.

    Windows version is 1909.
You need to update your windows version IF you are correct and the current build version is 1909
    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/win...se-information

    That MAY solve the problem.

Try switching the monitor OFF and then ON after you wake the computer from sleep
If the monitor is connected display port you may find this solves the issue.
Display port as against HDMI does not wake easily from sleep

What is full model of the BIOSTAR motherboard. please

I updated windows to 20H2 and the NVIDIA driver to 466.11. No improvement.

    The BIOSTAR motherboard is B450MH

Having the monitor off while waking, or turning off and on after waking, doesn't seem to affect the result. I'm using the HDMI port.

Try after you get to the blank screen
    Windows logo key + P
    or
    Ctrl + Alt + Del.

OR if the screen is black
    Windows logo key + Ctrl + Shift + B.

This of course is NOT the solution I only offer it to see if it will help establish the cause, and to save you whatever you are doing now to get the screen

I will post further when I have read the release notes on the driver and looked at the board spec.

What are the full details of the Sceptre 27 please.

Also - sorry I forgot to ask
what is the make and full model of the PSU

    - - - Updated - - -

Further to the above what is the AV in use
I see the board came with Bullguard in the software package

    Try this
see screenshot check Link Power Management on power settings - if on turn OFF

Also check if monitor has setting for auto detect - cable connection eg HDMI
If it has and it is enabled then perverse as it sounds turning it off can work
Only try one at a time otherwise you will not know which fixed it - if it does.

    =================
If none of those work try a clean boot and then in clean boot put it to sleep and see if the monitor then wakes.
    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/...a-a97a1807f3dd

Follow the clean boot procedure carefully please
If clean boot works it is a software issue, some service or driver loading on startup is preventing the monitor completing the wake up - or perhaps I should say - the graphics fully waking.

    Thanks for your help.

Power supply is KRATOS M1 550B.

The Sceptre monitor has no option I can find about auto-detect, so no option to turn it off. I'm not sure but I think it doesn't have auto-detect. For instance it doesn't seem to seek a signal going between the VGA and HDMI inputs. It's 27" and 1920x1080 resolution. It's a curved monitor if that makes a difference. Let me know if I'm missing anything.

I tried a clean boot by disabling all services and startup items. I rebooted, then went to sleep. Still no video signal on waking.

I haven't tried all those key combination yet, except Ctrl-Alt-Del didn't seem to do anything. Will try the others shortly.

There's no AV installed, or least I don't think so. This is the way the computer came from the Gaming seller.

I'll try the link state "off" setting next.

go settings - update and security
    windows security on left pane
click virus and threat protection on main window
    on
Who is protecting me on right of window
    click Manage Providers
That will tell you if it is windows Firewall and Defender AntiVirus

Sometimes third Party antivirus apps do stop the computer fully waking.

If you have NOT done so return the computer to normal boot as on the link I sent

    Returned to normal boot. Check.

"Who is protecting me" --> Microsoft Defender Antivirus
    Windows Firewall
    Web protection - no providers

Note that turning link state off did not help.

Do you think it might be a problem in the motherboard/video card interaction, like this motherboard just has problems with this particular video card? Or a problem in the BIOS? I ask because if this is not fixable I'd like to return the computer or ask them to ship me a differently configured computer.

I do not honestly know the answer at this stage, you could try turning off fast start
Turn On or Off Fast Startup in Windows 10

or of course you can simply not sleep it.
I have looked as far as I can on your user manual BIOS from your motherboard site and I cannot see a setting relating to PCI - the slot where the card is - relating to from sleep

I think you should definitely report the problem to the seller not necessarily at this stage with a view to return but to register the fault ASAP.

I am only online now for personal matters but just decided to reply when I saw you post on my email list.

If you wish send me this attached to your reply ( Upload the zip file directly into your post.) and tonight I will look at your logs.

    BSOD logs attached (V2).

I discovered something which is that when I uninstall the video driver, the option to sleep goes away from the power button. When I go into the detailed power options dialog, where you normally find the option to enable sleep, there are only things about hibernation. So for some reason it can't sleep without the video driver installed. Is this normal?

Another bit of information is that when I set the BIOS to "erp" (it says no event will wake the computer except the power button), the computer still wakes from mouse and keyboard presses. Even when it's hibernating it will wake from USB events like that (also from a joystick I have attached). I wonder if this is supposed to work like that, or if it's a clue of something else wrong. Maybe there's a bug in the BIOS?

    1. You have
    f.lux f.lux Software LLC
installed. It has a tendency at times to cause issues with sleep and waking from sleep
It is free so there is no problem if I am wrong in the possibility that it may be to blame
    Uninstall it
    and then restart
    and try sleeping it again.

Yes you are right it cannot sleep without a driver installed for the graphics.
    Re Erp
    ErP Control
This item enables or disables ErP Control function. When ErP Enabled, system meets ErP
requirment. All wake up events do not work except Power Button after power down system(S5).
    Options: Disabled (Default) / Enabled
Yes but WHEN using Power button.
Not when sleeping from normal shutdown.

WHO installed the OS on this computer please - it has been installed in Legacy Mode and should NOT be in legacy mode it should be in UEFI mode
    PartitionStyle : MBR
