AMD Radeon Control Centre Software Suddenly Won't Open

As the title describes, I can no longer open my AMD control panel. If I try, I just get the spinning donut and then nothing. I do however, get a error in the event viewer:

This software used to sit in my system tray, but not any more.

I have tried rolling back versions, SFC /scannow, checking services, installing the latest via an AMD factory reset, updating Windows (Build 19042), etc...

Nothing seems to work, and I would like to get it working again so I can set parameters on my graphics cards.

    Help? (please)

I download my AMD driver here

Are you saying you can't see this?

That's right. I can't see that. And I got my driver from the same place as you.

    I can't figure out what's going on.

    Have you tried this?

Uninstall AMD Radeon Software Adrenalin 2020 Edition

    AMD Cleanup Utility

Windows Update broke my AMD Radeon software GUI as well as removing all original AMD drivers. This happened several times until I figured out what was happening. I used wushowhide to block Windows update from updating the graphics drivers, then used the AMD cleanup utility and reinstalled the drivers/software from AMD.

Also, I think the AMD user experience program can be opted out of during installation. It is possible that a problem with this component is preventing the graphics software from starting.

Also, make sure that you download the specific software version for your Device ID.

If all else fails a system restore is likely to fix it if you have a restore point prior to the problem.

    Good luck.

    Link to wushowhide.

Mal, I downloaded that diagcab file you mentioned, however, I forgot how to install it.

You don't need to install it. Just run it and tick any device drivers you do not want Windows to update. This needs to be done before windows applies the update, or after rolling back/uninstalling the specific driver updates you want to disable.

Go there next time and select under additional options <<Factory Reset>>:
    Code:
    C:\AMD\AMD_Radeon_Installer_21.3.2\Bin64 > double click > RadeonInstaller.exe
Upgrading to a new build may cause the same or a similar issue. Optional versions are at risk.
