INTEL Core 2 Quad CPU Q9300 @ 2.50GHz RAM 8GB / 64BIT OS,

WINDOWS 10 HOME

OLD PROBLEM REAPPEARED - this symptom existed in the past but bypassed -

I use this PC at most 2-3 times a month --- because having other newer PC

PC now Do Not startup - ANALYTICALLY:

When starting it - pressing Power ON - LED is blue in front of, to indicate Power ON, Fan is working

but, Do Not light the LED for HDD/SSD

NEEDed force to shut down by pressing Power-On for 5-seconds

Sometimes auto restart when forced to shut down with the same problem, and sometimes Not restart auto

what to try ????

is it the Motherboard battery?

Hello @lse123,

OK, as a start, here are a few things to try . . .

[1] Take the casing panel off and check that the connections are firmly in place, especially the HDD/SSD cables.
[2] There is probably a reset button on the Desktop, use a pen or something to push it it when turned ON.
[3] Can you Boot into Safe Mode, I think it is continuously pressing the F8 key on an HP as soon as you turn ON.
[4] Have you got an Installation USB that you could Boot into to see if that works.
[5] UNPLUG everything except the Mouse and Keyboard and try.
[6] Have you got ANY External HDD's/SSD's/USB's attached.
[7] Have you got a CD/DVD inserted.
[8] You could try replacing the CMOS battery.

I had a similar problem with an older motherboard. Replacing the cmos battery took care of it. A new one only costs a dollar at Walmart so why not give it a shot.

Was you PC also an HP,... or...? So your display after startup was completely blank & black... no signal... correct?

It wasn't an HP. It was an Asus M5A97 but the same symptoms. At first I thought the board had failed but as soon as I swapped out the battery it was posting again. You could just swap the battery from another PC and see if it posts.

I actually do have an HP with a core 2 quad! It's battery failed but it still would post. It just kept telling me the time was wrong.

Probably bad hdmi connection
Easiest solution is to try a vga or dvi connection

I DO NOT THINK IS HDMI, Since PC Not boot, only fans listen, and hdd LED is off, also when press a key in keyboard is like did nothing... no LEDs light, i think may PSU is overloaded or CMOS Battery nedcs replacement...

Hi,
Pci-e card can confuse bios too.

When it does this just remove and reconnect the hdmi cable on the pc see if it connects after.
