Laptop freezes when switching from screen to TV (HDMI)

    Hello,
I have a Fujitsu Stylistic 702Q laptop connected to the TV with HDMI cable. To avoid distraction when watching a movie, I have set the dual display to Secondary only. So when I connect the laptop to the TV the laptop screen turns off and I watch on the TV. When I switch off the TV the laptop display switches on.

When I want to play some baby songs from YouTube for my son, I connect the Bluetooth speaker, start playing and then switch off the TV so he doesn't have to stare at the large screen all the time and strains his baby eyes. Occasionally I switch on the TV again so I can skip the commercials.

The problem is that my laptop doesn't switch to the TV, but it freezes and I can do nothing but switch off and back on. This happens every time I attempt to switch on the TV. At first I suspected Windows Update had replaced the Intel graphics driver. I downloaded latest Intel HD 4000 graphics driver, upgraded and restarted. I confirmed with Intel Control Panel that I have that driver, but the issue persists. Please help me.

    Thank you in advance.

I discovered that if I disconnect the HDMI cable before switching on the TV and then connect it again, it doesn't freeze and switches successfully to the TV. Any ideas? Thank you.

I suspect this is because of some static electricity build up on the cable that screws the system and cannot tell whether to switch to HDMI output or keep using the internal screen. Since I have no more replies, I'll mark it solved. Any suggestions welcome. As said before the workaround it to first switch on the TV and then connect the HDMI cable. Works 99%.
