Change Monitor number and make it default

I recently added a second monitor. Now when I access certain programs it appears on the new monitor EVEN THOUGH THAT MONITOR IS TURNED OFF!.

How do I let me know to use the active monitor? FTI I also have Displayfusion installed

In NVIDIA control panel you can specify monitor you wish to use or drag them to specify default monitor:

Doesn't work to select my Dell monitor as #1. So even though #2 is set as primary, stuff is sent to #1. If second monitor (#1) is off I need to turn it on and drag material from #1 to #2.

Just to make sure... you need to drag "number 1 square" (from the image below) over to DELL monitor within section 1 (where it currently says No. 2 next to checkbox)

    Did you do so?

Did you tried setting primary monitor in:
Start button -> Settings -> System -> Display -> Multiple displays

Is there any difference if you uninstall displayfusion? it may interfere with these settings.

Thanks for your help. I'm reluctant to uninstall Display Fusion because I have some profiles there that I think would be lost.

I resolved my issues by installing a different separate "second display". I have a junk pile of stuff discarded by friends. I was hoping to use a 22" display that is the one shown in my initial posts. I installed a smaller display and it accomplishes my objectives.

Thanks for hanging with me. Your comments helped me to narrow my options.
