Drivers not installing for GT 730

    Drivers not installing
    Specs:
    Xeon X3430
    GT 730 ddr3
    Windows 10 Home

For some reason whenever I try to install drivers for my Gt 730 its says that "it is not compatible with this version of Windows." Whenever I try to play games like Valorant, my game crashes. I have tried editing the nvaci file, reinstalling my drivers (391.35), installing the latest drivers, downloaded Driver Easy and trying to download the drivers on the Geforce Experience. If you could help, it would be much appreciated.

"it is not compatible with this version of Windows."
You have the wrong one - try this one

NVIDIA DRIVERS GeForce Game Ready Driver WHQL

    GEFORCE GAME READY DRIVER

    Version: 461.40 WHQL
    Release Date: 2021.1.26
    Operating System: Windows 10 64-bit
    Language: English (UK)
    File Size: 633.03 MB

presuming your 10 is 64 bit.

That seems odd. nVidia claims that the GT730 supports their latest WHQL drivers. I wonder if you're seeing a DCH vs. Standard driver conflict.

Did you uninstall the old drivers before trying 461.40?

If yes, the next step coud be trying DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) Display Driver Uninstaller Download version 18.0.3.6

    Good luck.

Do you mean it still reported
"it is not compatible with this version of Windows."
I was wrong in suggesting the later driver
EOL Windows driver support for legacy products | NVIDIA
You have a Fermi chip on the GPU. It is EOL and the last driver it can use is the 391.35

Nvidia offered it for your GT730 but that is incorrect
DO YOU HAVE that error on the install of the earlier driver the 391.35

IS your Windows 64bit or 32bit - by any chance.

    Right.

I wish that nVidia would fix their driver search page and compatibility list. 391.35 it is.

What does "sdfghjksf" mean by "my system is 64 bit and no i didnt have any problems installing the 391.35 drivers"? I presume that you meant that you were able to do it previously, but not now (as in post #1).

I'll repeat my suggestion of DDU.

The most reliable way to fix it may be a clean install of Windows 10. I doubt that's a pleasant option.

    bobkn

I agree - there is a doubt, as to whether it reads as
NO PROBLEM with the 391.35 install initially and NOW, or whether since trying to install the 461.40 there is now a problem with reinstalling the 391.35

I asked if the system was 32bit or 64bit as some drivers are for both, whilst some are different for 32bit

In fairness to Nvidia it is on the release notes for the later drive that the GT730 is not supported on Windows 10 if it has the Fermi GPU chip only the Kepler

The earlier driver 391.35 is listed for 10 - for the Fermi or Kepler chip
That was my error in suggesting the newer driver - I did not check

With that in mind, providing the 391.35 can be installed - I do not think a clean install of Windows will produce any different results.

Perhaps the other important question is - what is the actual make of the card, and full model details, so that we can check it has the Fermi chip

    Ghot
I am not certain that is of assistance as Nvidia state
Support Plan for Fermi series GeForce GPUs | NVIDIA
the GT730 has the Fermi chip as standard - at least that is my understanding
List of Fermi series GeForce GPUs | NVIDIA

some models of GT730 had I believe the later chip as your example 384 cores Kepler

However the earlier models had 96 cores
GIGABYTE GT 730 Specs | TechPowerUp GPU Database
    Fermi

Another clue is that the listed GT730 in the thread is the
    GT 730 ddr3
as is the link above for the Gigabyte
    OR here for the EVGA
EVGA GT 730 Low Profile Specs | TechPowerUp GPU Database

The ones with the Kepler chip I THINK did not, in the MAIN have DDR3 and had 384cores with for example DDR5
ASUS GT 730 Low Profile 2 GB Specs | TechPowerUp GPU Database

Or indeed as per your link.

I think the card will prove to be the Fermi chip with 96 cores
