    GTX 1080 compatibility


    Hi.

    I have a system with an i7 6700K, 16 Gigs of DDR4, Win 10 Home and a GTX 1080

    However, the GTX 1080 will flicker and refuse to install its drivers if paired with a Ryzen 5 2600 on a B450 motherboard so I had to buy a Radeon RX 5700 XT for that system, that works very well with Win 10 now but I am just puzzled

    I have another system, an intel system that I wish to use the GTX 1080 on, this time its an intel based system, a mini ITX board designed for 8th and 9th gen intel chips and I want to give it a Core i5-9600KF + Win 10 Home since the PC Build calculator tells me that this is the cheapest 9th gen intel cpu that can keep up with a GTX 1080.

    But will I run in to trouble? I mean the GTX 1080 runs on the system with the i7 or atleast it did until its power supply died.

    Its just that I've had so much trouble with that i7 system that Id rather if I could use the GTX 1080 in another system.

    The incompatibility with Ryzen, is that to be expected?

    All my windows 10 systems are updated to version “20H2”

    I have the following Win 10 systems:

    A Ryzen 3 3200G system with 16 GB of memory,
    A Ryzen 3 2200G system with 16 GB of memory,
    A Ryzen 5 2600 system with an RX 5700 XT and 32 GB of memory (current main rig),
    An intel system with a cheap celeron 'gold' CPU on a mini ITX mainboard with 16 GB of memory,
    An i7-6700K system with a GTX 1080 and 16 GB of memory (former main rig),
    Two gaming laptops each with 16 GB of memory,
    An all in one HP with a radeon GPU and 6 GB of memory,
    A HP desktop core 2 duo with a radeon GPU and 6 GB of memory,
    A Yoga laptop with 4 GB of memory,

    I have no issues with an EVGA GTX 1080 Ti running on a Ryzen 7 3800XT with an Asus ROG Crosshair VII Wi-Fi motherboard. Sounds like one of the hardware components is bad. You say the old system power supply died, that could have caused a voltage issue with the GTX 1080 that could have damaged it. I even have both the CPU and the GPU overclocked on this computer. The GTX 1080 should be compatible with any computer that has the correct PCIe x8 or x16 slot for it.

    Well this was Before the psu died

    The card worked well when in its original modern intel system but not on my ryzen based systems

    Didnt try it on my second modern intel system though

    Clarification:

    In 2016 I buy a prebuild system with an i7 6700k, 32 GB DDR4 and a pallit GTX1080

    Then in 2020 two ram slots die but the modules that were in there still runs to this day in a ryzen system

    Thus the system now has only 16 GB DDR4

    Then I accidentally break the USB 3 connector and the system lost 2x USB 3 ports

    I now build my ryzen 5 2600 system and the GTX1080 Will not work in the system so I buy an rx5700xt and it works well in the system

    Then The GTX1080 gets back in the 2016 intel i7 6700k system and works well in that system

    Then in january This year the psu Burns 2x 1 TB, 1x 3 TB and 2x 500 GB harddrives

    All connected since 2016 using a pcie 6 port SATA controller

    Recently the psu dies completely

    The PSU is now dead and trown out

    But the GTX1080 might still have survived

    And thus I Wish to save it by using it in another system and reusing as much as I can

    I'm running an nVidia RTX 2080 Super on an Asus TUF X570 Plus gaming board with an AMD Ryzen 9 3900X CPU, and a Titan X (similar to a GTX 980ti) on an Asus Crosshair VII Hero (X470 chipset) with an AMD Ryzen 7 2700X. Both systems are with Win10 Pro X64 20H2.

    That isn't absolute proof, but I'd be very surprised if a GTX 1080 (a Pascal card, from the generation between the Turing and Maxwell cards above) had trouble with a B450 motherboard.

    I can't explain your problem, but I doubt that it has anything to do with the normal functions of the AMD hardware.

    ok, yes it is indeed weird

    I just ordered a brand new Corsair RM850 Corsair 80+ gold 850W Powersupply to replace the thermaltake 750w PSU that stopped working

    I am hoping the system will fire right up with this new PSU

    I have several other systems that use Corsair power supplies already (650W and another RM850 850W) and thus far, they have all worked very well (the RM850 I already own is busy powering my R5 2600 + RX5700 XT system - a bit worried though since the giant noctua fan on the cpu cooler is actually scratching against my side panel window on that one and makes the side window buldge out a bit)

    if this works then I will order a third RM850 and perhaps a fourth for a ryzen system and another intel system that are both unassembled at the moment

    The RM850 arrived today and presto.. my i7-6700K with a GTX 1080 fired right up!
    I plan on getting more RM850s

cant get 1080 resolution
in Graphic Cards

after upgrading to windows 10, I cant get max resolution on my satellite p55-A5312. there is no option after 1366 x 768. I have installed the latest drivers from Toshiba site and also via windows update. but still cant get hd reolution. any help...
